Not an RPG fan, eh? Either that or you have a chip on your shoulder for some weird reason. Infinite Undiscovery and Last Remnant not included, I'm almost always impressed with Square Enix's games.Tsuki Tanaka said:When it has a "SquareEnix" logo on it (with the exception of the remakes).
Aside from that, I'll usually give a game an hour or two to try and get me amused.
On the contrary, I AM an RPG fan, which is the exact reason why I can't approve of SquareEnix at all. Since the merge, their games have been gradually declining in quality, and the only thing that has really been keeping them alive is their over-inflated reputation.Magugag said:Not an RPG fan, eh? As for me, I give a game a chance till the end. Seriously, it has to be really bad for me not to finish it, because I can squeeze enjoyment even out of really atrocious titles, usually. There are exceptions, but I don't usually buy utter shit, and as much as I'm sure everyone disagrees, mainstream titles are almost never utter shit. Once I've finished a game, I can declare then whether I liked it or not, or on that most rare of occasions declare a game to be so bad as to have no truly redeeming qualities.
That's a shame. I'll admit that The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery both felt unfinished and poorly done, but Square-Enix continues to impress me with games like The World Ends With You, Kingdom Hearts (yeah yeah, I know) and the Final Fantasy series. Even XII, my least favorite in the series, I have to admit was up to snuff.Tsuki Tanaka said:On the contrary, I AM an RPG fan, which is the exact reason why I can't approve of SquareEnix at all. The protagonists are all re-hashed versions of each other, the storylines are all relatively similar, and the gameplay just continues to get worse.
Atlus and Nippon Ichi are just doing a better job when it comes to RPGs, currently.
