Let me try to explain a bit.

My old Guild in is switching to being a PvP based guild, which I've never had a problem with someone ELSE PvPing, but then they started making it a requirement to PvP to be in the guild. I played PvP, and you know what I got? Griefed, endlessly. It was literally log on, get shot in town, get camped at the respawn point, log out and play something else for days. My guild wouldn't help (too busy doing the same thing in another town), nobody around COULD help, and I couldn't play. Bottom line was that I waited until about 4AM to log-in and see it was clear enough for me to turn my PvP flag off. I hate PvP (not just for that instance, but multiplayer/PvP as a whole) and I don't ever plan to play it because I don't have to stroke my ego like all these jockeys that try to "be cool, be a MAN!"

Let me remind all the people I can while writing this: If you're going to argue "be a man" at LEAST provide a male character that is real and has a stable real life job. It makes you look like an idiot when your version of a real man is Saxton Hale/Chuck Norris, he's a cartoon/actor.

Bottom line, I've quit the guild and not going back. What do I get for my 3 year efforts at making the guild better? Being told I like "boring, repetitive, grindy, easy, wussy PvE." I was rather bored, dying all the time is very repetitive, it's easy to stand there and spray bullets at an entrance, I was grinding alright, and wait what? I don't like being griefed and murdered so I'm some kind of kid hiding and waiting for mommy to come save me? THAT makes a whole lot of sense. Did I miss the part where having a death fetish was fun?

So, my philosophy on PvP is "You go stroke your ego, I'll stay over here where I enjoy the game the way I want to" and for that I'm some kind of care bear, all I'm asking is...WTH?

We all play how we want to play, we set our own challenges. In my opinion there is no grater challenge than facing another human player.

Partly because of Penny Arcade's GIFT, or Greater Internet F***wad Theory:

I'm really talking about games in general, though I'm trying Fallen Earth and getting the same results. I'm also getting the same backlash for choosing Skyrim over the new Modern Warfare.

That's fine, to me there's no greater reward than cleaning out a camp, or making that new sweet rifle, but why am I suddenly some kind of wuss because my goals are different? That's the question.

this is exactly why i quit wow:)

edit: ok if your talking games in general tell the people who are greifing you to go to hell. anyone who thinks a good single player experience is worse then some crappy multiplayer game like MW just because it doesnt have a PVP component is an idiot and should not be associated with:)

[When did PvE become "wuss" mode?]

It never did.

This is one of the numerous insults thrown around by immature kids when they found themselves sat alone on an empty server because nobody wanted to play with them.

it would be good to know what game you are talking about.
and playing against human opponents is usually more challenging because there will always be one ideal way to deal with any PvE threat because non-human opponents will always be predictable while every other player you face may just surprise you with a new tactic you never thought of.

Today PvE(pretty much all MMOs)is "wuss" mode because the content is so dumb proof easy. I remember doing LOTRO quests and getting killed over and over again not even by elite mobs, haven't played it in awhile so I have no idea how much that content changed but the trend todays is to dumb down everything. So yeah if you want any kind of challenge PvP modes and games are the new shit. I myself enjoy some League of legends but there are games for everyone i guess.

In WoW I would constantly be grave camped (not just corpse camped) and in games like Rappelz they have full blown non-consensual PvP, so larger guilds just block off people from entering town. Fallen Earth is a bit more consensual, but if I'm NOT flagged for PvP so I can be camped at spawn I'm apparently some kind of pansy.

I don't argue that PvE is getting dumbed down (So I like how in CoH there's a difficulty slider) but I feel that's not MY problem so much as it is the developers short sightedness. I still prefer PvE because I've never had any fun on PvP groups in anything (heck even TF2 is just one loss after another, and that's somehow supposed to be a "fun" FPS)

I find this hard to believe, since all PVP in Fallen Earth either takes place within clearly designated areas, or you've flagged yourself for open world pvp by entering the /pvp command. If being open world flagged 24/7 is a requirement for your clan then find a new clan because there's only about 3 clans I can think of that might require that, and they are the hardcore PVPers of the entire server so you're just not a good match for them.

(It's not Heretic, is it? I know they have a newbie clan running around at the moment since the F2P transition...)

Oh and whatever they may say to the contrary that is not the norm for Fallen Earth. Like EVE it's a single server MMO, so we have PVPers, PVEers and RPers all mixed in together, and none of them are the sole 'right' way to play the game.

I think the core issue here is you weren't as important to the guild as you thought you were. It's a sometimes startling revelation, but it's also very common.

Your solution was to quit playing the game, which is entirely valid because you weren't having fun. Why pour time into something you don't enjoy? An alternative would have been realizing this sooner and looking for another guild, one where people would actually help. I realize with the whole "Internet Fuckwad Theory" that these may be few and far between, but if you did like the game, it would have been worth the effort.

As a matter of fact, I'm in them right now, but I'm not getting the corpse camping result in FE, just the "PvE is for wusses" feel from the clan.

That's just stupid, if the game gives the option to turn off pvp and you do that it doesn't make you a pansy, same way turning on aim assist doesn't makes you crappy shot.
But this swings both ways, if you don't like PvP you should just stay away from games that have a PvP focus or a community that largely does PvP.

i get that getting killed on spawn and being stopped from entering towns pisses you off but why does getting killed/loosing bother you so much?
i don't really care about stuff like that as long as the game is fun

Ha. Thought so.

Heretic are one of the big (or at least noisy) PVP clans, along with the Saints and KAOS and it probably tells you all you need to know about them that I could guess it was them.

I strongly advise you to drop the clan and find a new one. A lot of players in FE will do casual pvp, but the 24/7 thing is by far the exception rather than the rule. Best of luck and I hope this hasn't discouraged you from Fallen Earth, which is an excellent (PVE, PVP or RP) MMO.

It sounds like something said by immature jerks. Honestly: I've never done PvP...though this may admittedly be because I like RP a good deal more or just that I feel like PvP is meant for the max level characters (since they're the ones I usually end up fighting when I do PvP). I -will- admit that in alot of MMOs PvE is easier than PvP (With the exception of games like Vindictus, where PvE is the focus.) But fear not: TOR is coming very soon and I'm betting that, with the story driven aspect: PvE in that game has a good chance of upsetting that idea...especially since it's frigging BioWare

I don't blame any guild who's decided they've had enough of WoW PvE - it's just gotten shit since WotLK. If they wanna switch to being PvP centric, why should you not enjoying PvP stop them?

Nope. It's not that the others are enjoying the game they want to. It's that they're doing so, and stroking their egos by mocking the guy who enjoys it a different way.

Isn't that what all PvP is about anyway?

I used to play City of Heroes and my main character was a controller; extremely easy to kill but was a massive benefit to a team. And in the few times I played PvP the same things would always happen. Whenever I was on a team, every single enemy player would go for me, or me and any other controllers on the team (a very rare occurrence), completely ignoring the major threats, just to get an easy kill. My team would just start using me as bait, I'd put up a force field (invulnerable but unable to attack or buff teammates) and fly around with my team stealthed and following. Every few minutes one to five enemy stalkers (high damage melee with stealth class) would pop out of stealth and try to kill me, then get their arses handed to them by the team they weren't expecting.

The only good PvP experience I ever had was a one-on-one fight against an enemy controller type right off in the corner of the map where the stalkers didn't bother to go.

The reason people are such asshats in PvP is because they will always go for the easiest route to get what the want. In PvE that's no problem because it involves helping your teammates. As far as I'm concerned, PvE is the only true combat element in an MMORPG and PvP is put in to keep the arseholes away from everyone else.
