When does a user cease to be a new guy?

I'd say you're no longer a newbie when you start to recognize other posters, and they start to recognize you in turn. I'd also say you start edging into forum celebrity status when you start getting random friend requests; I'm tempted to start a thread now asking at what point a poster goes past new guy, past regular, and into celebrity status.

Being a mod

This place has a lot of history, and there's some grouping. It used to be a really small, close group until Yahtzee came along. I still don't feel like I belong among the people who have been here a few years, but that's understandable. It's a big community, and if I recognize you you're definitely not new. The thing is, why do you care? Why not just have fun and get friends, you certainly don't seem to have a problem posting.
