When is the all male focused issue of the escapist?

Several times now, we have seen entirely female focused issues of the escapist, so how long is it going to be until we see an entirely male focused issue?

I want someone to tackle the hard questions about being a male gamer in a male dominated market. Why guys feel they need to hide there like or certain games from other guys? The effects of peer pressure in gaming circles. How us normal guys feel about having only two representations of masculinity in video games, the hyper masculine, full testosterone muscle clad balls of rage, or the completely emotionless, non interactive blank slate.

How we feel about being portrayed as one dimensional psychopathic killing machines who exist to maim, fuck and then kill some more?

At this point I am ready to burn my sports cup in the name of equality!

If this is sarcasm, bravo haha funny. If this isn't then I'd like to know what you're on right now.

You raise a good point. You see, in modern times of "HARDKORE GAMERZ", everyone who likes something less violent than Gears of War is considered "GAY" by said "HARDKORE" audience. They could do an article on peer pressure if nothing else.

Men are not obliged to drip with testosterone 24/7, you know.

There's this perception that men can't talk about their feelings unless it's in vague terms like "cool", "awesome", "lame", "gay" or "I think I'm bleeding." It's embarrassing, apparently.

I know what you're thinking. It's just another stereotype, right? Really? Go ask your friend what he thinks about Halo being a giant male power fantasy versus Portal, which could be viewed as the exact opposite/a female empowerment fantasy. See how far it gets you.

I am personally offended and appalled at the mainstream portrayal of males as nothing more than mindless macho punks in video games. It's about time we guys took a stand in the female-dominated industry of complaining about our rights.

Doesn't it make you feel objectified? Like you don't really exist as a person... that people only view you as a personification of brutality, violence and rape?

Exactly. We men have feelings, too, Epic! Why can't they make a game with a fat, socially-challenged main character seeking to overcome his fears?

Isn't that the plot of the new Max Payne game?

And OT, I'd say the present issue is pretty male-focused...

I couldn't agree with you more. Coincidentally there was an episode of Red Dwarf (That one in season 2 with the holly hop drive) which hit this issue right on the head. The boys were transported to an alternate dimension much like our own spare gender swaps. It does tend to feel a bit emasculating playing musclebound burgeons of testosterone. But then again look at Mario, look at Gordon Freeman. Look at Link! That alone says that our normal image is being represented somewhat in the gaming industry.

An all male issue?! That would be sexual discrimination and we can't be having that! [/sarcasm]

Other than making a rhetorical point does it really matter if there's an all male issue though? How would the content really be any different than it already is?

I just wanna know whats with all the homoerotisism. "Blow me" and the more explicit versions ARE NOT COMEBACKS. I stopped playing MW2 recently because I can't go into a lobby without someone saying something about their dick. It wasn't funny when people said it 5 years ago in Halo 2 and time hasn't sweetened it.

Completely agreed, doctor topic-starter.

But that's how the world is, and it's not going to change. The minority always has the say.

Not when you have a girlfriend.

What about us poor white gamers and how we are portrayed and treated in online games. I demand justice.

Isn't it awesome to be seen as those things, though? What can be more manly and thus life affirming than that?! Isn't Kratos' brutality the thing that makes the boys want to be like him when they grow up?

Now, if you weren't just being sarcastic:
Ignoring the obvious response of "every other month", there actually were multiple male focused articles if not entire issues.
