It's just more fun to play as a bad ass space marine or COG soldier who can chainsaw your face or rip your spine out. It's cooler. Is it right or accurate? no. Still cooler? yes.
Settle out of court. Don't even think about going to court.Hope Chest said:There's really no good way of dealing with a divorce involving children.
Why should a husband be stripped of assets? This is a type of punishment for the father. Why shouldn't a wife get most of the assets of the family if all but one member of the family is living under her roof? Why shouldn't a huge chunk of the father's income go to child support?
You shouldn't be allowed to jail someone who owes money because it only forces them to owe more money. By jailing someone it prevents them from being able to make more money to keep themselves out of debt or even just keep it down.If we're going to put anyone into prison for being a debtor, it should be when someone doesn't take care of their kids: the financial debt owed to a child by a parent is different than any other kind of debt out there.
You may say that it's rough, but if the mother wants money from the father she can get it. The backwards thing is that a mother has the right to say "I don't want a child", get it aborted and not even talk to the father about it because it's "her body", but as soon as that child is born the father's choice doesn't matter. He's responsible for impregnating her, but he has no choice in whether or not he wants a child. That's a double standard. And an expensive one for a father.Sure there are problems, but parenthood and interference by the state is problematic to begin with. It's tough to deal with the rights of children even in a family where the parents are married; when they're divorced, that just makes it that much worse.
Actually, plenty of people gave a shit if there weren't many men in nursing: men, who didn't think it was a vocation befitting them. The initial gender disparity was a result of the same in waitressing: women weren't allowed in very many other fields. I'm technically in nursing (surgical technology, actually), and it took me some time to drop the ego and go after it, in part because I wasn't sure I wanted to do it and I really thought Lorne Michaels would eventually start returning my calls, and in part because I thought it was a "woman's profession." God, how stupid of me.CmdrGoob said:Same reason you see "OMG not enough women in IT what a sexist discipline!" pretty regularly but no one gives a shit if there's not many men in nursing.
Chances are, were are not "Middle Class". Most young white males are underclass because we ARE young and don't have the careers yet to try and be middle-class.purplepixie said:Every other issue focuses on male issues. Just because it's not clearly stated doesn't mean it's not there. Would you demand a 'straight' issue if they did one focusing on 'gay' gamers?
I love it when white, middle class men complain because there isn't something special for them. *rolls eyes*
Then again, he's just created the thread to ask why more aren't being created.Omikron009 said:If this is sarcasm, bravo haha funny. If this isn't then I'd like to know what you're on right now.
The class status of minors is defined by their households, not their personal incomes, because that's what actually governs the opportunities they get growing up.JaredXE said:Chances are, were are not "Middle Class". And if you ask any blacks, Latinos, or women, you'll find that those organizations occasionally make a splash 'round campaign season but really don't do much to affect the daily lives of the social groups they represent.JaredXE said:But that's beside the point, why shouldn't we ask for something special? All our lives we have to give and allow special organizations that discriminate and emasculate us, but we have nothing in return. Blacks have the NAACP, Women have NOW, Latinos have LULAC, Whites have.....the KKK.
This whole "minority scholarships are so unfair to white people!" meme is spreading like wildfire on the Escapist. I don't think y'all realize just how lame most of those minority scholarships really are.JaredXE said:I have to work my ass off for college because there aren't special considerations or exceptions or scholarships that give me money to pay tuition beyond the basic financial aid.
Oh, please. That's just not how it works.JaredXE said:I get into a fight with a black guy, it's automatically considered a hate crime.

Men are not obliged to drip with testosterone 24/7, you know.

It just seems evil from my point of view to assume automatically that the female is the best parent, because, get this, if she was the better parent, she wouldn't need all of the money from her ex.Hope Chest said:I agree, but like I said: if anyone's going to get thrown into debtor's prison, it should be parents who don't provide for their kids. Because that's not really a 'debt': not supporting your kids is really less a debt and more a crime.
Sorry for the shattering of your world view.Hope Chest said:Sorry--I no longer participate in serious discussion on The Escapist since it seems that at least one of the moderators would rather lock the discussion thread of a featured article than take action against a person flaming me by accusing me of ridiculously illegal and immoral behavior.Booze Zombie said:*snip*
