It's just more fun to play as a bad ass space marine or COG soldier who can chainsaw your face or rip your spine out. It's cooler. Is it right or accurate? no. Still cooler? yes.

There's really no good way of dealing with a divorce involving children.
Settle out of court. Don't even think about going to court.

Why shouldn't a wife get most of the assets of the family if all but one member of the family is living under her roof? Why shouldn't a huge chunk of the father's income go to child support?
Why should a husband be stripped of assets? This is a type of punishment for the father.

The father's quality of living decreases significantly with hefty child support payments. Why should the father's quality of life be neglected so that the mother and children's don't have to be? Especially in the instances when child support is more than 50% of the income. In many cases half of people's pay goes to rent, and the other half goes to bills and food plus (hopefully) saving. Why should someone lose the majority of their paycheque, get the unfortunate title of "custodial" parent, and get only have roughly 48 days visitation a year? Especially when cost of living can be high.

If we're going to put anyone into prison for being a debtor, it should be when someone doesn't take care of their kids: the financial debt owed to a child by a parent is different than any other kind of debt out there.
You shouldn't be allowed to jail someone who owes money because it only forces them to owe more money. By jailing someone it prevents them from being able to make more money to keep themselves out of debt or even just keep it down.

Sure there are problems, but parenthood and interference by the state is problematic to begin with. It's tough to deal with the rights of children even in a family where the parents are married; when they're divorced, that just makes it that much worse.
You may say that it's rough, but if the mother wants money from the father she can get it. The backwards thing is that a mother has the right to say "I don't want a child", get it aborted and not even talk to the father about it because it's "her body", but as soon as that child is born the father's choice doesn't matter. He's responsible for impregnating her, but he has no choice in whether or not he wants a child. That's a double standard. And an expensive one for a father.

Same reason you see "OMG not enough women in IT what a sexist discipline!" pretty regularly but no one gives a shit if there's not many men in nursing.
Actually, plenty of people gave a shit if there weren't many men in nursing: men, who didn't think it was a vocation befitting them. The initial gender disparity was a result of the same in waitressing: women weren't allowed in very many other fields. I'm technically in nursing (surgical technology, actually), and it took me some time to drop the ego and go after it, in part because I wasn't sure I wanted to do it and I really thought Lorne Michaels would eventually start returning my calls, and in part because I thought it was a "woman's profession." God, how stupid of me.

As for the portrayal of men in games, I don't think it's because of any inherent sexism on the part of the developers but rather dumb-ass suits who assume that you and I are all dipshits who see ourselves as 'roided-out behemoths.

Every other issue focuses on male issues. Just because it's not clearly stated doesn't mean it's not there. Would you demand a 'straight' issue if they did one focusing on 'gay' gamers?

I love it when white, middle class men complain because there isn't something special for them. *rolls eyes*
Chances are, were are not "Middle Class". Most young white males are underclass because we ARE young and don't have the careers yet to try and be middle-class.

But that's beside the point, why shouldn't we ask for something special? All our lives we have to give and allow special organizations that discriminate and emasculate us, but we have nothing in return. Blacks have the NAACP, Women have NOW, Latinos have LULAC, Whites have.....the KKK. Awesome. And you can't just say, "Well you're a white male, you run the world and have all the advantages", because last I checked, congress or the president doesn't ask me how to run the country, banks don't take my advice on money management. I have to work my ass off for college because there aren't special considerations or exceptions or scholarships that give me money to pay tuition beyond the basic financial aid. My insurance is inherently higher despite women causing more accidents, and as for the courts and the media's perception of me, well I'm just a ticking sociopath and utterly irresponsible and incapable of raising a child. I get into a fight with a black guy, it's automatically considered a hate crime. I tussle with a woman, well then I am a woman-hating mysogonist.

Perhaps you should think beyond a smart-ass response next time you make such a blanket statement.

If this is sarcasm, bravo haha funny. If this isn't then I'd like to know what you're on right now.
Then again, he's just created the thread to ask why more aren't being created.

Also, not all are focused on us girls. I have seen hundreds recently that majority of girls have not been posting in unless its to say they've never heard about what the OP is talking about. I think it all depends on the topics.

The class status of minors is defined by their households, not their personal incomes, because that's what actually governs the opportunities they get growing up.

And if you ask any blacks, Latinos, or women, you'll find that those organizations occasionally make a splash 'round campaign season but really don't do much to affect the daily lives of the social groups they represent.

As Hope Chest put it: what exactly do you expect that "white male" interest group to be doing? What issues apply to all or most white males but specifically just white males?

Also: "emasculate"? Srsly?

This whole "minority scholarships are so unfair to white people!" meme is spreading like wildfire on the Escapist. I don't think y'all realize just how lame most of those minority scholarships really are.

They're... something. They can be life-changing for a few people, lucky overachievers from rather severely disadvantaged backgrounds. The majority of students don't get one of these things. But they really, reeeeally aren't some magic thing that makes it so that non-whites don't have to worry about paying for college.

Nor do "diversity" policies at some universities remove academic pressure for non-whites.

Oh, please. That's just not how it works.

Doesn't it make you feel objectified? Like you don't really exist as a person... that people only view you as a personification of brutality, violence and rape?
Exactly. We men have feelings, too, Epic! Why can't they make a game with a fat, socially-challenged main character seeking to overcome his fears?
Isn't that the plot of the new Max Payne game?

And OT, I'd say the present issue is pretty male-focused...
*MaxPaynefanboytwitchshudderspasm*

I hope you don't say this in a prophetic kind of way >.>

I'm upset that 95% of guys act as though RTS games, and PC gaming, are not real games for manly men,

You kill a few hundred covenant throughout halo, but i kill a few thousand orcs, undead, humans, and nightelves in Warcraft 3, unless i play Line Wars

GET IT STRAIGHT PEOPLES

You raise a good point. You see, in modern times of "HARDKORE GAMERZ", everyone who likes something less violent than Gears of War is considered "GAY" by said "HARDKORE" audience. They could do an article on peer pressure if nothing else.

Men are not obliged to drip with testosterone 24/7, you know.
I was called gay for playing kirby on my DS T.T I love kirby and everyone knows he is more vicious of a killing machine than anyone in any given FPS
He's a fucking psychotic cannibal. Kirby is a boss.
Not only that he steals the power of his victims and uses it against them.

Yeah i want to see an issue where they teach us how to shave with a hunting knife around a campfire like real men. Then they can show us about crocodile wrestling and lion shearing. Things real men do. Or am i missing the point?

I agree, but like I said: if anyone's going to get thrown into debtor's prison, it should be parents who don't provide for their kids. Because that's not really a 'debt': not supporting your kids is really less a debt and more a crime.
It just seems evil from my point of view to assume automatically that the female is the best parent, because, get this, if she was the better parent, she wouldn't need all of the money from her ex.

It just seems like divorce is an easy excuse to walk up and take money from someone you no longer like.

Sorry--I no longer participate in serious discussion on The Escapist since it seems that at least one of the moderators would rather lock the discussion thread of a featured article than take action against a person flaming me by accusing me of ridiculously illegal and immoral behavior.
Sorry for the shattering of your world view.
