Often times, I tend to switch around games when I'm bored. However, this tends to be a dangerous tactic for online shooters. I've thrown quite a few grenades when I meant to crouch and also got my head blow off by sniper fire when I didn't crouch behind a convenient crate. Other times, I mix up the sprint button with the crouch button, and also get gunned down...Has muscle memory ever betrayed you like that?

I just picked up Batman Arkam Asylum for the first time in a while last night. i got my ass handed to me in the challenge mode when I first started. Luckily after a minute or two it all started coming back to me.

Every game, I do it.
Especially Mass Effect. I keep lobbing grenades when I want to reload, then remember there is no reload.

Mine is not really for video games but for walking in the dark, It is often pitch black when I wake up in the middle of the night, I go upstairs to get something to eat, but we recently re arranged some things in the house and now I trip and topple over everything on my way...

Worms Armageddon 2 on the 360 has 'X' as jump, that's right, 'X' of all bloody buttons. This leads to me frequently jumping my worm to it's death when attempting to fire a weapon.

I played Gears of War 2 soon after completing Assassin's Creed 2 and kept shootting (right trigger on thee 360) when attempting to sprint as well.

When my Ex thought sneaking up behind me would be cute only to learn that for years my friends had been sneaking up behind me to attack me and I had developed the tendency to leave them with black eyes and bloody noses.
I felt horrible.

Not really. Only issue I have is games where A/X or X/Square is accelerating and braking.

All games should stick to the now-standard shoulder button acceleration.

Saint's Row 2 is the only game I'll put up with it in.

After playing way too much Mass Effect I tried my hand at Halo 1 and got beat up really bad. I kept ramming the shift key hoping that would pause the combat and let me pick other weapons...

Actually, DA:O pretty much screwed me up a lot of times, since my mind instantly mapped the space key as pause. Which in Mass Effect equals to leaving the safety of a cover wall.

Playing Fable 2 right after Oblivion or Fallout 3 is fun. Try to access your menu and watch the villagers run!

I've never had it that bad, but yes, screwing up what button does what after switching games has caused me plenty of distress over the years.

Oh yeah definitely. Played MW2 and after played the demo for the new BC2. Totally screwed up the buttons. Why put knifing on the top button?? Especially bad jumping from MW2 to L4D2. But at least I get the hang of it shortly after.

Oh god, yes.

After 50 hours of playing Mass Effect 2 and completing it, I went back to Modern Warfare 2 MP. I see an enemy, press 1 on the keyboard...

WHY THE FUCK ISN'T ADRENALINE RUSH WORKING?

Oh yeah! This happened to me too with a girl I liked! I punched her in the face.

Seriously, despite being a 17 year old nerd I seem to have the muscle memory of a commando.
The key difference is, I was already in a relationship with her, which I guess makes it domestic abuse.
*Feels a deep shame*

Been playing Saints Row 2 recently, then my friend wanted to play some Spec Ops in CoD. I tried to sprint but ended up getting a faceful of grenade.

...four times.

not the best tactics for sneaking through a forest inhabited by angry russians.

I tried to go into VATS mode in Half Life, I planted a claymore in front of an enemy in MW2 instead of knifing him (because right bumper is BF:BC2 melee), and I keep reloading in Halo when I want throw a grenade...
