When should you end a series?

right now the only way for them to do that is to drop all the extra characters... hell I'd even accept a first person viewpoint in the game if they did that.

Hmm, you may very well be right. We'll see if Sega does anything.

I say you end it when it's at the top. It can only go down from there.
And people will remember it for how great it was if you end it before it gets bad.

I believe that a series should end when it stops being about the idea itself, and becomes about the money. A series should not end on a cliffhanger, or on a Diabolus Ex Machina.

Also, for the most part, a "different direction" is usually not a good sign, unless every part of the series is a slightly different direction.
