Probably already been said, but people act that way for attention or because they actually don't care, and are emotionally detached enough to not realize what they're saying is rather cruel. Do everyone a favor and stop talking about them.

its called having tact, mabye its pointless to expect it on an internet forum...but in real like there are times when you say nothing, because bo one wants to hear your opinion

you (hopefully) don't go around saying such things in real life (in certain contexts that is) but even online I still question somone who has to show us all what en edgy hardass they are because they say they don't care when children get murdered

also just because tradgeys happen all the time does not devalue any given tradgedy, by that logic we should not care about ANY tradgedy because chances are theres 10 worse going on the exact same moment

I prefer people who are honest over people who pretend to care.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that the people who don't really care (this includes myself) post those things just to oppose to the people who act like they really care.

The truth is, most of us don't -really- care, but we think we're supposed to.
except they aren't being honest. they're pretending not to care when really they're champing at the bit to demonstrate what a cold, emotionless badass they are. they're giddy about the opportunity to exploit a tragedy for their own self-aggrandizement at the expense of people who are capable of actual empathy.

If you think someone is being insincere about it, then go ahead and call them out if you can prove it. But let's dispense with all this "i don't care" nonsense. the people who actually don't care wouldn't have bothered commenting.
There's a problem on the other side too, the people who make the Facebook pages with stuff like "Like this if you feel bad about (insert tragedy here), and go off the handle at people who dont feel that strongly about it.

I feel bad sure about the shooting that happened recently, its a horrible tragedy, but I dont feel the need to announce to the world how I feel so bad for the kids and the family and yadda yadda. Those kinds of people are just as bad as the ones trying to seem edgy and cool, but they're looking for attention and trying to show off just what a good person they are. It's not necessary, on either end

Still not as bad as the "omg dey die 1 like= 100 prayers and 1 share = da killr die in hell 5eva" people. I think that's part of the problem. There are idiots about who have no idea about what has really happened and they only exist on the far edges of the spectrum, being either one of the people I'm talking about or one of those that you are talking about. So the morons showing a ridiculous amount of care are either attention whoring or supremely childish, and in response we get assholes who want to be edgy just to piss of the previously mentioned retards... by acting like retards themselves.

Here's a good suggestion which will solve your problems: IGNORE THEM. If you pay no attention then they will stop screaming "LOOK AT ME!!!1!1!!!" and "PAY ATTENTION TO ME!!!1!1!!!"
Good advice. The morons who have posted that seem to actually take pride in their lack of empathy or have gone so far as to say they find this whole incident to be "amusing" are worthy of as much of our attention as the Westboro Baptist Church.

Thank you for making this thread. I've thought about making one like this for a while but always thought there'd be a lot of back lash. .
I'm quite happy that the thread didn't totally backfire and I'm not the only one who feels that way, but I did expcet alot of backlash

Oh for fucks sake, what does saying these things even accomplish? If they are so apathetic and don't care, why reply? Just ignore it and move on like any other person.

Well, all we need to do is show them the same respect they show others, and don't give a single fuck when their heads get bashed in with a rock. You act like this and you end up like that asshole wrestling manager in the first Spider-Man movie.
