Did I stutter or something? Read the subject line.
Other than that he's just not my cup of tea.
Pleeeease tell me you realise Led Zeppelin is a band, not a single artist.
Well, I haven't looked much into him...them. Forgive me for not knowing much about things I'm not terribly interested in D:
Thats alright, I had a mate make the same mistake about Pink Floyd.

So, when was the last time you hung out with your Crue? Yeah, look what I did there. When was the last time you experienced a Day that was Green? When was the last time you saw a Leppard that was Def?

Damn, this is fun.

I listen to a lot of classical as of late, Beethoven and Rachmaninov. But as far groups that are alive today... King Crimson, Mr. Bungle, Aphex Twin, Meshuggah, Muse, and Tori Amos to name a few.
I know you mean well, and mabye you called it "classical" so non-listeners would understand...but I just can't let you go without telling you that those are Romantic compsers (though, admittedly, Beethoven was more of the transitionary period between Classical and Romantic, but his stuff was still very Romantic in nature)

I got my light emitting diode out last night when I needed to get my daughters jacket out of her room when she was asleep.
I'd love a good LED flashlight, it's such an odd thing to get geeky about, but powerful flashlights kick ass.

I think Led Zeppelin is a talentless overrated waste of time, so, never.
Stating opinion as fact is iffy at the best of times. Even if you don't like the noise they make, they were all virtuoso's in their own right, and(after the Beatles)are considered by many to be the best rock band that has existed.

Personally, I love 'em. I haven't put any on for a while, but "Since I've been loving you" and "When the levee breaks" blow my mind.
Berethond's statement began with "I think..." which would technically make it a statement of opinion, not fact. Don't get butthurt about someone disliking Zep. I appreciate the influence they have had, but I'll take Black Sabbath a million times over Zep.
Gah, late night mis-read...my bad. I need some kind of internet curfew.

Just for the record, my butt doesn't hurt at all.

You didn't stutter but you did create a thread that is not well explained with very little thought put into it.

OP: I have never got the led out? I think?
Allow me to explain: "Getting the Led out" is a phrase that means playing music written and performed by popular '70s hard rock band, Led Zeppelin. Radio DJs first coined the term when they would have long segments or air time dedicated to playing Led Zeppelin.

Gettin' the le[a]d out is an old military term in Britain. Basically telling the troops to hurry the **** up.
The statement in full was to "get the lead out of your pants". Lead, being heavy, would probably slow someone down at any task. Removing this lead would make them move faster. But you are more or less correct. It could also refer to the many lead parts that were once common in automobiles.

The phrase was simply co-opted by Led Zepplin.

Incidentally, the original phrase is generally considered to be American in origin.

Yeah, following such a comically ambiguous title with a smartass remark like that will result in a pretty forked thread, and a number of irritated posts, as I see it.

Having now read what 'getting the Led out' means, OT: Not for a while, actually.

I'm not sure I'd classify all of Zep as "virtuosos" though. Page is pretty dang good, as is JPJ, and Bonham was amazing, but Plant is kind of a boring singer in my opinion. Just a lot of wails and moaning a lot of the time. Don't get me wrong, he suits the music rather well, but his range and vocal ability isn't what I'd call stellar.

I dislike Led Zepplin.
I won't comment on their "talent" or how "capable" or "influential" they are, and honestly I couldn't care less.
They've never instilled me with any emotional reaction other than abject apathy. If they did it might have been tints of disgust.

Btw: really poorly made thread imho.
Woah you have a contrary opinion to the norm. You're cool
Glad you think so, but in truth, I'm no more "cool" than you are "clever or creative" for your response! :D

Led Zeppelin did not co-opt the term. When deciding on what to name the band, they were friends with Keith Moon. Keith stated that your new band will go down like a lead zeppelin.

I assure you it is British. And I'll leave it at that.

Heh...probably a good thing really(though I still think he was very talented). Those "empirically good" singers who win pop-idol and the x-factor bore the shit out of me.

Well, I had to murder my old neighbour, who found the bodies. So I got the ol' pipe out and cracked his brains out with it.

Oh... shit.

Funnily enough I'm wearing my 'zep t shirt right now. Probably listened to them a couple of weeks ago.

I'm with you concerning the American Idol type singers though. I can't stand those folks. Plant's voice is fairly interesting and well suited for what he was doing, but I don't think he was/is particularly talented when it comes to range and diversity of styles.
