Call of Duty is in the place every single wants to be. If you have a xbox, it is mandatory you have Mw2. It's strange if someone doesn't have it. Everybody loves it, and everybody is going to buy the new one. One of my friends has only played CoD for the past year and plans to only play Black Ops for the next year.
When will this madness end? I used to love Call of Duty. Infact, I still play CoD 4. I have a month played on it. It has kept my interest for 3 years, and mw2 kept mine for 2 months. To me, CoD has died. I'm not buying Black Ops even that will be the only thing my friends are going to talk about. I want a new over-popular game to come out. But when? I think after Sledghammer or Infinityward makes mw3 people will find something new. When do you think?

I'm buying Black Ops, if only for a distraction until Cataclysm comes out, but my hopes definitely are not up. I agree that both World at War and MW2 were huge letdowns compared to CoD4, which is easily the best game in the series.

CoD can still be saved, we just need these developers to stop adding crazy bullshit and start adding BALANCED stuff. There's no point in putting a heat-seeking uber missile knife perk into the game (Commando) if you can't balance the damn thing. Balance seems to have taken a backseat to spectacle in recent titles, and that CANNOT happen if you want to be a good competitive game like CoD4.

How do you think CoD has died if you still play it?

CoD will die as soon as people stop giving a toss over it, and seeing as how MW2 was terrible yet still has thousands of people playing it, CoD probably won't die out for a long while. If not, then Never seems about right.

When you knock it off the shelf.
Not metaphorically, I mean just push it off.

A better question, when will people shut up about Call of Duty and understand that if a game doesn't appeal to them it doesn't make it the worst game in the world. It's a fun game, deal.

As stupid as the question is, I reckon they only have a few more before the sales start to drop in numbers. Overall it will be Activisions fault as they are losing their customer base by the day.

Personnally I think Black Ops will be the last COD I buy, I am a big Treyarch fan and I know they will knock it out of the park with this BLOCKBUSTER release that is Black Ops. I really don't see how much more they can innovate after this one, its just gonna turn into milking.

Black ops will be fun, but after that, its a rumoured cod game from newcomers Sledgehammer, or MW3 from the butchered Infinity Ward. Another Treyarch game is 2 years off at best and after Black Ops I don't see the quality being held up by other developers.

It will all start slipping after Black Ops and in a good few peoples minds, it already has with MW2, will be interesting to see the sales figues for Black Ops, obviously it will be high, but will it reach MW2 sales? Will it pass them out? Will be interesting.

See: Never
This.
As long as it makes money, they'll keep making it.
See: Every movie that should have stopped after 3 sequels, but kept going anyway

I own a Xbox 360 and a PC and I have that heaping pile that is MW2 and its multiplayer for either of them. I also did not buy the game what so ever for my own reasons. It will end when people stop playing it.

I imagine it'll be like Guitar Hero, albeit with longer times in between releases. It will be milked dry after a while and Activision will get increasingly more desparate, as they're getting with Guitar Hero.

I AM NOT ALONE!

But to answer the question, It will end when someone else makes a really awesome game that becomes played b y everyone and their grandma. It does not even have to be an FPS btw, could be anything at all.

Never bought MW:2. CoD4 is one of the best fps's Ive played. It story is compeling and its gameplay is fantastic. But MW:2 took many of the things I liked about CoD4, the player hosted servers for stupidly large games and free player generated content, and cashed them in, ruining a good game for a payout.

I refused to buy it on principle, especially since in exchange for ruining my game they charged an additional 5-10 quid, depending on retailer.

When will it end. Why idiots see the light in in the tunnel and just play the first ones. Seriously, so far everything after CoD:4 has just been rehashes of the old ones.
