I would so buy that game.Zeithri said:Imagine if Link were a girl and Zelda were the male?
I think you underestimate how many blokes play as female characters but basically the answer to your question is that if you want to create an a game with a defined player character who is integrated into the plot then unless you want to put a lot of effort into doubling up on dialogue and creating dual unique interactions you basically have to choose either female or male. I guess they figure most young male gamers (who are the majority of the market) want to play male leads.DarkHuntress said:Maybe females don' make up a majority of players but they are out there. Every no sale of a game relects on the bottom line and I am a no sale on most current games.
Why don't they realize that most women don't want to play as male characters? I mean just switch it around, how many male players would enjoy games if most of the ones available had women as the main character?
Why is it a problem for them to develop games where gender option is allowed?
I, for one, don't purchase games that only allow a male character. I can't even role play a character like this. It's just not fun.
Usually these characters have a romantic interest. Of course the romantic interest is female.
C'mon, maybe some female players can go for this but not this player.
Maybe someone here can help me understand why gender option on MOST games, is not allowed.
YeahZeithri said:You do know that Samus was the one who actually broke the gender rules?
I mean, you do know that everyone refered to Samus as a HE until they got the Best ending, right?
When we get to the point that there is no female MCs ever then we will be wrong. Until then they will never be able to please everyone. If you make a game that has a character creator it isn't good enough. If you make some games with female MCs it isn't good enough. So when is it good enough?Zeithri said:Misterian said:Developers know that their are female gamers.
they simply don't give a hoot which gender their top gamers are, and they shouldn't have to.
As long as the game is good, and it sells well, that's all developers should have to worry about.I'm sorry, but you two are wrong.squid5580 said:This.Misterian said:Developers know that their are female gamers.

Pisses me off when the Nazi-feminist movement tries to stifle creativity. Passing on a game because of the gender of the MC is BULLSHIT!!!
There have been articles here on escapist about this specific subject, I suggest you go find them.
Isn't roidrage Sue in Gears of War 3?manaman said:So you would have bought it if it was roid rage sue?Zeithri said:I am kinda the same with you on this.
If I see a game that I find interesting but read "You play as Testestorone Bomb Joe", then I won't buy it.
That's such a cop out answer. You probably wouldn't have bought the game anyway, and changing the feel of the game so it can support an actual feminine character would have changed the game so significantly that it wouldn't be the same game.
Short answer; Of course I wouldn't unless the game somehow magically looked hilarious.
I point you to the clip I posted for Uber Waddles on Post #34, Page 1.
Oh yeah, you're right: what a mistake I made in saying that RPGs are the genre most likely to allow you to carve your own story and character.Zeithri said:I love it when someone calls someone stupid and then trips on their own argument.Woodsey said:I take it you're being purposefully stupid on your last question just to suit your argument. Most games have fixed characters because most games will tell a specific story about that character (unlike RPGs)
Perhaps you should take one large look on RPGs.
Ganondorf as well? Now I really want them to make it.. =(Zeithri said:
