When will it be a "final" Final Fantasy?

Well I think "Final Fntasy" is just a sort of pun since the first was sapposed to be the "Final" Fantasy but it was successful, they carried on from there.

I think Final Fantasy is still good (I even liked X-2 THERE I SAID IT) but I do understand why people don't like some of the newer ones. I didn't like Final fantasy 12 since I could not stand grinding levels to progress (I kept dying) but the story was still good. I have not played 7 but I am sure it was good because either it was the first 3D Final Fantasy or its just good throughout. Final fantasy 10 is my favorite since it was the first I played so maybe this is why people like 7.

Also everyone is entitled to their opinion yadda...yadda...

the only reason it still lives is because people still buy it, and many will continue to buy it just because it says Final Fantasy on the box.

Okay here's my question, why does it have to end? People who don't like it can not buy it (like mostly me) but people who do buy it can keep buying it. It's not like they're forcing you or whatever.

For me the series has been pretty stale after Final Fantasy Tactics (a game I love and play often even today)

Companies have no reason to stop milking franchises. Their primary concern is making money. It's just interesting as to which franchises get nailed for it and which ones don't.

Final Fantasy as a name never indicated an end to fantasy. Chalk it up to horrible naming conventions. Very few Final Fantasy titles are actually sequels, those being FFX-2 and FFVII Dirge of Cerberus, as well as the prequel Crisis core and the movie. Think of Final Fantasy in this way: take out the term and insert <The Thirteenth Japanese RPG by Square Enix Featuring Previously-Unseen Gameplay and Cultural References>. Quite a mouthful? So Square Enix isn't very creative at naming their games. We could have instead: ff7=Jenova Crisis and FF7:CC=Jenova Crisis: Crisis Core, or FF12=Assault on Arcadia or some such thing. But Square Enix doesn't want to do that, and I won't fault them for such a small mistake.

I'm slightly annoyed at Square. After all these years all they can seem to do is create more Final Fantasy games, despite the fact that there even being a second Final Fantasy game screwed with the notion presented in the word "final", changing it from the end, or completion of something to mean "the last one unless it sells good" oh, there have been other games, but most of them have been spin offs of Final Fantasy games, and the rest have sucked. I'm just wondering if i'm the only person in internet land who thinks that its time to put it to an end, or am i just mad cos Final Fantasy 12 wasn't that great?

I loved 12, so did everyone in my vicinity, but that is probably why we are friends we have similar interests (at least in some genres).

Now I'm not here to heckle you for disagreeing with my tastes, we all have different interests.

I am here to heckle your ignorance to where the name came from. Do you even know WHY it is called Final Fantasy and WHY they keep making more?

Judging by the decent story in dissidia (I haven't beaten it, if I'm wrong just say so don't tell me why!) I think it will be the last one... I'm probably wron and my view will change when I beat it, but still
