When you get a lame gift...

When you receive a gift it is truly very exciting. The only thing to bring down your spirts at that point would be to open it and receive a totally lame gift. I always find it awkward for me but I was wondering what you good people do in that undesirable situation.

Act as if I'd always wanted one but later never look at it ever again.

Try and muster up as much false enthusiasm as possible and hope its convincing.

Then take the gift home, shove it in the cupboard and forget about it until the obligatory two years is up, and you can eBay it, or give it to charity.

I imediatley sit down where I am cross legged and start sobbing to myself, this can be taken as me been over come at how touched I am by there thoughtfulness, or at how upset I am at how lame there selection was.

It depends who gives it to me. If it's parents, I just take it and not say anything. Maybe muttering a "thanks" to them.
If it's friends (why the hell would they give me gifts?), I'd either say it's okay and never use it, or just give it back to them.

I sit down, smile, think to myself "Jackass, do you even know me at all?" and move on with life.

Two days later, I dump it down the interstate and dodge the subject 'til eternity.

Err... yes, this is what I try to do.
You'll find me doing this more than anyone else in my family, hell, once my sister took a look at a quite frankly impressive pile of gifts and responded "that's it?"
