I've just started playing resi 4 for wii.

Its fricking awesome.

Also, if you think a good game is like gears of war, GTA etc why not buy Scarface? No more heroes is excellent, and the latest rabbid game is good for a lugh when your friends come round*.

so, the wii hasnt gone "wrong", its just trying something different, rather than churning out a similar console with better graphics. Just because it caters to a different audience does not mean it is bad as a console.

/thread.
It's a shame people completely ignore this fact when they decide to bash the Wii, preferring a short-term ego stroke over a compelling argument.

Are people really this idiotic?

The Wii went wrong when they declared "GIMMICKS > GAMEPLAY!" and proceeded to create hundreds of games simply to give the controller a purpose.
I don't know how many times people have to go over the fact that out of all these hundreds of crappy shovelware games, not a whole lot are made by Nintendo. Third party developers are to blame, and nobody is making you buy those games. There are good quality games for the Wii which exist as more than just tech demos for the motion sensor technology, but it never ceases to amaze me how many people go around with their head in the clouds doing their darnedest to ignore them.

I thought this place was sposed to be better than that, yes fanboys/haters will exist everywhere you go, but surely here they'd at least be slightly educated fanboys/haters.

Plus you have to set up the IR reciever ontop of your TV with the 10 meter range.
You can also set it below your TV.

Besides, the bar doesn't do any receiving of anything (i.e. it isn't a receiver at all). It's just a bar with leds so that you can calibrate the controller with it. Any bright light source will do the same trick; even a pair of candles.

If all the negative people are doing is saying "lolz the Wii went wrong because of teh shovelware" then by that token the PS1 (as well as the original NES even) went so far wrong that it in fact imploded in on itself.

Oh wait. Seriously people, pick up a few game history books, read them, and learn to form an actual opinion based on research before just getting butthurt that you were all wrong when the Wii kicked the PS3's ass up and down the block.

And stop acting like you're somehow better than others just because you've gamed longer. I've played games for 18 years, and I don't pretend I'm better than someone who's just started. I have better things to do than waggle my e-peen around with an overinflated sense of importance. I hear things like "Nintendo needs to grow up" from people who argue like it is they who should be growing up.

It sounds like for you, it was a bad investment. It sure was for me, but I guess it depends on what the specific gamer is looking for in their console. I found most of the major releases for the Wii to be about the same quality as a budget title on the 360 (specifically Metroid Prime, Twilight Princess and No More Heroes). I enjoyed Mario Galaxy, but once I was done with that, there was really no reason to keep my Wii around, so I sold it.

With a Wii game, you're not going to get a deep experience, that's pretty much guaranteed. I personally see Nintendo as a gimmick machine, finding new and unnecessary ways to set their consoles apart with features that should have been optional peripherals and that's why their games have no lasting appeal for a great majority of people, but this is just my opinion.

No More Heroes is an intense game, get that right now!! Madworld is okay, and House of the Dead looks intresting, though I dont have it. If you don't have RE4, you could get that, too. Also, you can consider getting older games on the Wii Shop channel, and Wii Ware games, too.
Also, you could try giving casual gaming a try. I'm not much of a casual gamer, but I like the Rayman Raving Rabbids games.
I disagree. I found the story to be lame, the characters annoying, the gameplay repetitive, the graphics horrible, and the "open-world environment" laughable, time-consuming, and pointless. I don't see why this game gets such high praise, maybe because of what it's being compared to on the console.
