Mine is from an inside joke from around 8 years ago. Most people think it's a reference to something else though.

Loor came from the Pendragon book series. A friend had been reading them and started calling me Loor because both the character in the book and myself had the habit of solving all of our problems with violence. Later in life I hit the fanfiction scene and wrote a few Jak and Daxter stories (Theres the Elf part) with an incredible focus on the fun things that could be done with dark eco. Another few weeks down the road I got a DA account, and I became LoorTheDarkElf both there, here, and everywhere else on the interwebs.
I needed a new user name and I was drunk and doing particularly poorly in a game of counter-strike. Somehow the word eclectic seems like it ought to be paird with one like dreck. Later, when I got my Xbox 360 and was forced to make a profile, it was more or less set in stone.
From a German language history book when I was researching the political setup in the Holy Roman Empire, it referred to the Habsburg dynasty with the term 'erbkaiser' (hereditary emperor) after they had gotten the Imperial Crown and never lost it again.
As for why I use it: it was the only name out of ~20 I tried on PSN that was still free, and did not include numbers. I'm gradually moving all my online nicks to this one now, previously I used my first name or a variant thereof.

Well I like the sound of the name Rex, and my surname begins with B, so I altered the spelling of Rex - in a highly uncreative manner - and added the B.

Did I mention at the start of the thread that my name kinda stuck in most other things like Steam, Xbox LIVE, PSN, XFire etc etc etc and most gaming conversation.
I got after talking my birthstone becuase i got heavy into its meaning and then combined it with my nickname from high school for when i become more social.
