Well, conservation of mass states that they cannot simply disappear. Matter cannot be destroyed. I say they're just flash-liquidated and absorbed into the surrounding walls, where microfactories within the walls manufacture them into recycled blocks. It's a very, very complex and pointless system, created by a savant of a scientist who greatly understood how to achieve the pinnacle of recycled processing, but had no idea how to apply it to the everyday world and better the lives of those around him with his genius.

They all take one step back so they as 2d objects are no longer in the plain of the Screen. In this scrapyard of complete rows they cluster together. This forms real Matter via Einsteins Law E=mc^2 using the energy the player invested playing the Game. One day a secret organisation will come to your house, pick up this material to fuel a spacecraft and leave this planet to die!!!!

They don't go anywear, In every Tetris game there has been a tiny ammount of Chuck Norris that when it sees a complete line is roundhouse kicks it.

Tetris blocks are only suseptible to one thing, the kick of a Ginger martial artist.
