Amazon usually. EBgamestop might as well not sell PC games, I did used to buy console games from them sometimes. And since coming to this site NEVER AGAIN they are evil and must be purged. Finally broke down and actually bought some stuff on steam after xmas... 9 stuffs. Kinda wish I bought more, horrible time to start being responsible :'( The deals....

Well, if I'm going retail and the games relatively new then I'll swing by GAME.
If it's not, I'll see if I can find it cheaper second hand from CeX or some of the other smaller game shops around my area.

Usually though, it's through Steam.

Which ever UK online retailer is trust worthy and cheapest or offers the CE I want... List includes, GAME, Gameplay, Amazon, shopto, Zavvi etc. There's many more smaller sites as well, but I'm too lazy to list them all.

When steam sales are on I tend to buy from Steam, otherwise I prefer having the box to be honest.

For my imports from america or asia, I use either videogamesplus.ca, playasia, yesasia or some other import site again depending on who is cheapest.

A place in Sweden called "Webhallen". If there is a Midnight release, it's there, and their prices are way cheaper than Gamestop.

I bought Arkham Asylum from Gamestop for 700kr (108 Dollars)
I bought Assassins Creed 2 from Webhallen for 500kr (77 Dollars)

I bought both games only days after they were released each.

EBay only these days. Screw paying for parallel import nonsense that was knocked on the head for cars, music and now under review for books.

Mainly steam, but amazon for older gamess and GAME occasionally ( I think after I get my £15 off my reward card it will just be steam and amazon)

I live in Ankeny Iowa. I find that Gammers, or GammersMarket is handsdown my favorite place to shop. It seems a little run down, but if you're looking for new, or old games they Got them. There's like five whole tables with nothing but playstation 2 titles, 2 tables covered in ps1 games. 3 tables covered with gamecube games. And stacks and stacks of Xbox/360 games. Plus if you buy a game, and decide you don't like it, they will refund all of your money, minus a dollar per each day you had it. They even sell SNES games.

Play.com, Amazon.co.uk, Steam and occasionally my local Gamestation; I live in a relatively rural area and as a result don't have too good a selection; small independent shops are non-existent and the Gamestation, I reckon, must make a pretty meagre profit.
Gamestation often has pretty decent pre-owned games, but occasionally a new copy of a (fairly) old, good game comes through and I have to snap it up; prices aren't great, but travelling North to the nearest city is ludicrously expensive (one bus company has an unofficial monopoly on the entire region, so prices are bad; added to this that in Scotland, OAPs can travel free if they have an entitlement card, which the companies use as an excuse to push the prices further). Oh and I have a loyalty card so that adds to the value of going there.
Amazon and Play always have a good selection and the prices are pretty good. They often have nice promotional offers and delivery pretty fast.
Only started using Steam, but the whole digital copy thing hasn't entirely sold me yet; downloaded a few games from it, but the time involved and the fact it sucks up like 90% of my dowload limit means its not that viable. Until better download limits and broadband speeds are available here, Gamestation, Amazon and Play will continue to be my main three.

I usually buy through Amazon.com or Ebay. Only on rare occasions have I bought at a GameStop. Reason being: cheaper and on occasion my job has me so tied up I couldn't go out and get a game if I wanted to.

I buy most of my games from a nearby super market, as I would need to go by train and bus to reach the nearest store that is dedicated to games. Sure, the selection isn't very good, but most big games end up in their shelves for me to buy. And I have bought only 3 used games during my life, so where's my Nobel-prize??

I rarely pre-order games, last one I pre-ordered was Red Dead Redemption.

Game - they always deliver quickly and never deliver damaged products.
Steam - the sales are just too good to resist.

Either GAME or HMV. I got pointcards to both of those shops but GAMES is better (the poinst system is crap at hmv) and I had the card longer the HMV. GAMES ten to do cool exclusive offers for when you preorder the game but HMV had a few good ones as well. Yeah I do agree that the games in GAME are cheaper compare to HMV.

I buy most of my PC games through Steam.
I also visit the EBgames in the next town from where I live for everything else as they are the only place I can buy games without waiting for online delivery and I get along with the manager.
Every now and again I buy a game from Amazon or a couple of other websites usually because they are a lot cheaper than Australian game prices.

If full price, Walmart.
If it's on sale, Best Buy.
If it's on clearance, Target.
If old, GameStop.

Since I'm the person who likes to wait for games to drop to $20 before buying, there's really no one place I buy from the most. By that point, it's usually just wherever I find it first.

As the topic says "Where do you buy your games and why?"

I buy my games from a store named Game. They match price with cheaper game stores and they have really cool unique pre order deals. Plus a rewards card. Every $500 you spend you get quite a big discount on your next game.
I normally don't bother with the retailers in the wonderful land of Oz.
I have bought a few extremely cheap games from EB games recently because they were cheaper than getting them online, they were older second hand games
I usually import all my games from the UK. Cheaper and free delivery. The only difficulty is a small wait but it is worth it.
I did pick up Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood from JB Hifi but that was because the delivery from my usual place had been backed up due to the Christmas period.

If you live in Australia, as your username suggests, you really shouldn't shop anywhere but online. You'll get fleeced everywhere else really.

So yeah, that's what I do now, except for the occasional important limited edition pre-order that I wouldn't want to risk acquiring via the internets. Oh, and I have a Steam account now, so I guess I buy some games through that way.

I mainly buy stuff from Steam. When I buy the occasional PS3 game I get it from a Sweden-based stored called "Webhallen".
