Russia? Well Putin will probably dead by then, so there will be another leader.
Probably it will still be a totalitarian country, like how it always was (fine, most of time).
Jews / Muscovites will keep leaving country, and citizens of Middle East / the Stans (Kazakhstan and co) will keep moving in.
Товарищ, your beautiful nation has long tradition of keeping your leaders alive even decades after their death. ;)

Of course: they believe that men are lesser forms of life meant to serve women. That if women had been in charge no wars would have occurred. That God is female. That Battlefield 3 is better than Call of Duty 3; and Skyrim is over-rated.

They are liberal authoritarian theocrats based around a church that worships femininity.
That's not gonna be a fun place to live in for me then. Cause I am a man. I might have to move when the time comes. Tell me, where should I, an Economically Conservative while Socially Liberal Cartoonist/Politician, go?

You know that Steampunk Sarah Palin comic, where she teams up with Robama to fight the evil legions of Al Gore invading their nation?

The US will probably be completely different from that.

Republicans and Democrats would never support each other on anything.

was... was it because they didn't like Skyrim? I bet that's what it was.

Might I suggest one of the Mercantile states? They are basically Renaissance era Italy with more hurricanes. Or you could always just chill out in my Cheyenne Mountain bunker, we have stockpiles of alcohol and its where Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Robert Downey Junior and Zombie Fredrich Hayek hang out.

I can see the United States, ether gone and a new country is here (or owns the US) and Germany is at the top. OR the US recovers and all is the same but with more technology

I dont know anything about politics...

but I dont see the carbon tax being around long enough to have a lasting effect 50 years from now..and I have a feeling Gillard isnt going to be prime-minister for very long

looking back now the whole thing seems joke..hence why It somtimes feels pointless to care about politics

worst case scenario perhaps we will be owned by china
unfortunately i do know something about politics (did some politics units at university), if this law passes it would be very difficult to repeal, it would make Australia seem like they want to destroy the planet (silly notion i know, since Australia has a comparitively low carbon pollution ratio compared to other countries) but with all this "green" bs, shit's going to happen bad, and it'll go sideways fast

EDIT! Whoops, read this as asking where I WANT the country. Teehee.
Well, I don't think quite a few of my first list are unlikely. I see America coming back slowly, and being basically where it is. That is, unless the singularity occurs.../crossed fingers. Ignore the below lists unless you care what I want :p

USA HERE.
Here's the lowest I'd settle for.
Without compensating for technology advances (Robotics, medicine, possible Singularity, etc.):
I'd like reduced spending towards military, obviously.
Legalization of at least marijuana.
Legalization of prostitution.
Legalization of gay marriage/adoption/blood donations, PLEASE.
Public option, if not single payer.
I'd love to see where the New Atheist movement ends up.
Not being in a war.
No Child Left Behind being ended.

Some ideals:
Vastly reduced spending towards military, "freeing people who don't ask for it doesn't work" as conventional wisdom after reflection on a shitty Iraq war, but a quick Libyan one.
The removal of the electoral collage for the presidential vote.
NASA refunded, a push for space exploration, as well as eventual colonization becoming a mainstream hope.
Further funding of the sciences, push for new technology, knowledge of the singularity concept becoming widespread.
Further funding of schools, running of schools rethought.

I'm hoping for the end of world hunger, maybe the cure for cancer or some other ailment.

I'm hoping America calm down and fixes their shit, instead of starting shit with other people.

But I only see a meager to sad future, honestly. But I can still hope.

I say the US will be back on its feet again and prosperous. Recessions and growth economically always happen and switch between the other over time. Also as the new generation takes over government we will see less conservatism and an end to stupid bills like SOPA and any bill against video games.

I predict the US will be at war with itself, with the right and left wingers destroying each other. British, Australian and possibly Chinese navies will respectively attack the east and west coasts, with the Chinese routing themselves to the Panama Canal, taking that over, and successfully creating trade between themselves, Cuba and all Caribbean islands. Successfully training and arming those places, Cuba will be the first of the Chinese-trained countries to throw its weight at Florida in an attempt to enter the US (think of it as a reverse Bay of Pigs) and any defenses thrown at it are in vain. Cuba successfully takes the entire southern Florida coastline and beckons the Caribbean military to follow suit.

Russia moves its army towards Alaska, and despite losing a sixth of its entire army to the frigid conditions, easily takes their targets and immediately begins monetizing on the resources. The entirety of the Spetsnaz would be mobilized to completely eradicate Washington, DC.

The United People's Republic of Korea and Japan would combine their nuclear and biological weapons research to make an undetectable nuke that would completely destroy the US's ability to grow food and supply clean water. Their plan goes off without a hiccup. The Cuban and Caribbean armies very slowly overtake the entire south side, but losing heavy casualties to the heavily armed and quite numerous populace. Australian navy retreats from the west coast to move through the Panama Canal to join the British naval efforts and leaves the west coast to the Chinese.

All this is happening, and the EU and UN are like, "So, what's going on in South Africa?"

The carbon tax isn't so much an environmental issue, the government noticed mining companies making record profits and wanted some of them. Only the mining companies had better ads, so Labor changes PMs, tones it down alot and says its a green move.

Yeah, it'll have some environmental effects, but it's really about making the most of the mining industry currently being worth alot before it runs out.

IIRC, Australia's carbon pollution isn't so low if compared against similar developed nations, not the world as a whole.

Kinda the same. I don't see any major shifts happening, just that people then will proberly view the 2000s as the good old days.

Well, lets see. Im Canadian so...global warming will melt some of the ice in the northern isles, creating both shipping lanes and the ability to drill for prescious oil. We wil sell said oil and use the money to better our own country and build up our military to protect it. This will continue until a larger country (US or China) will get the bright idea to invade. They will most likely fall to us not being used to the climate and varying terrain and having to spread their forces extremely thin all across Canada. When they are defeated Canada will take retribution by taking over their country, starting a world dominating empire.
