Fucking Canada. Why go through all that trouble of establishing that the United States forcibly annexes the entire country and then not do a single thing about it? That's just stupid.

Fallout: Seattle might be interesting. It gives you access to sea coast, proximity to the timberland nearby (or their ashen remains), a somewhat urban area to explore in the city itself, it would be closer to Alaska then previous setting, so there might be Chinese remnants that managed to work their way down their . . . there could be some possibilities.
That actually sounds like a pretty good locale.
Obviously there's nothing "apocalyptic-looking" in Alan Wake, but that game's portrayal of Pacific Northwest really grew on me and I think a Fallout game could do well there.

Fallout Australia.
It could combine the outback with destroyed urban centers. And if you thought Australian wildlife was bad before, imagine it after radiation.

I don't really care where its set as long as its not made by Bethesda the only way I will buy another Fallout game is if its made by Obsidian.

Yes, this would be so much cooler than anything, I mean seriously they have synthetic humans, why would you not want to go there. It would be interesting too, because they could do something like an oppressive government or bunch of random raiders like mad max, that would kick ass.

Let's take this into the strangest direction we can and see what we can do to justify it.

Oregon.

Reason 1) Forests. We've had Oasis, yes, but never big expanses of trees just clogging your vision. I hope I'm not the only one who'd be interested in what happens when massive logging operations are left abandoned. It could also take some of the survivalist elements from New Vegas to new levels, scavenging for resources and maybe some hunting tricks (leaving out bait for aggressive characters, silently following tracks for stealth classes). And you know how much fun you had with the Ripper. That was just a knife. Picture an industrial strength atomic chainsaw.

Reason 2) Weather Cycles. Not really something that's been a part of the Fallout universe, and what better place to introduce the concept than here? Blizzards that reduce your field of vision and force you to seek warmth. Acid rains that make it harder to sneak and track prey. Horrendous winds that blow loose debris into your face, maybe even tear apart your spontaneous campsite if it's not properly built.

Reason 3) Portland. The residents there are already pretty screwy. Can you imagine what they'd be like after 250+ years of passive irradiation and a constricted gene pool?

---
All that being said, I'd still be pretty damn content if the next Fallout was essentially "Skyrim With Guns."

The Canadian rockies please! We could experience a nuclear winter to boot! That would be very interesting.

Plus I'd love to see how Bethesda/Obsidian could possibly turn the beautiful rocky mountains into... Well, a total wasteland. It'd be neat. But like I said, throw in the effects of a nuclear winter, it would be amazing!

Canada. Why? Because it would be neat to see how the Canadians viewed being annexed by America just before the nukes went off. It can add another subtle layer upon an already awesome Fallout experience in 3 and NV.

I'm expecting it to be set in the Commonwealth, mainly because it was mentioned quite a few times in Fallout 3. I'm quite looking forward to it, especially if we somehow get into the institute

I heard a rumor that Fallout 4 was going to be in San Francisco or LA.

It is supposed to be made by Bethesda again, so I really want to see how the implement the things they learnt in Skyrim into the game.

It's got to stay in America, I think that much.

I agree with Alaska.

A nice change of setting without getting rid of what fundamentally makes Fallout, feel like Fallout.
I don't know, I think there is some potential for another country.

They could set a game in Mexico to sort of ease the international process...

Where ever Vault-Tec decided to position Vault 69. THAT would be interesting to search the remains of!
I'd like to see lots of interesting vaults, the experiments I learnt about during my play-through were interesting and unnerving, and I'd like more of that. As for setting, if vaults don't already have a designated position and they can throw them anywhere, I'd like something similar to Fallout 3. Lots of wasteland, but also a ruined city or two. I'm not familiar with American geography, so I wouldn't know where exactly the best place would be...
To be honest, the most interesting cities would probably be Washington, Las Vegas or New York, two of which have been done and the other wouldn't have enough wasteland for my liking. Unless there's lots of open areas around New York? I'm not sure, any Americans confirm that for me?
