Where does Call of Duty go from here?

I know there have been Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 topics in the past, but I really want to know where the series goes beyond that. Call of Duty is getting up there in sequel numbers, so can Infinity Ward keep crafting a new FPS each year? What wars should be done? Any new perspectives from which the game should be played? Should the series move to the future? Should they axe the series before there is a Call of Duty 10? Just some thoughts on where the series goes after Modern Warfare 2.

How about the revolutionary war?

I seriously played an old Counter Strike MOD based on the revolutionary war... it was hillarious seeing everybody use modern FPS tactics with single fire muskets that were horribly inaccurate.

I miss that game.

I'm not making this up. There are rumors out there about a COD game that takes place twenty or so years in the future. It doesn't sound like Infinity Ward, but they might do it.

I would hope not. I'm not interested in the futuristic shooter at all.

Well, I don't really care one way or the other. But, I do agree that a futuristic shooter would be strange for them. But, this is roughly 20 years from now. What would be THAT different from today besides bigger explosions and kinda new tanks?

Oh god i hope that if Infinity Ward do a Future-Shooter, it's not gonna be blaster rifles and star destroyers, cause that would quite suck cause if lasers are heat then they should be able to go through any type of cover thus rendering the duck and cover mechanic useless.

Like BallPtPenTheif said, a revolution esce-war would be pretty cool although tactics wouldn't really come into play 'cause of the "Stand in a line and fire until you or they die"
It does seem that people are running out of wars so it seems that the future is the only way forward.

Or maybe Vietnam but there were some terrible games from that war.

EDIT:Oh my god Call of Duty:Medieval Warfare is probably the best idea ever.

Wasn't that game Frontlines based something close to 20 years into the future?

I think that most people would agree that the Call of Duty series should now end on a positive note rather than be strung out to the point of total disgust for all gamers!

What say you all? :D

It goes into the dark ages. your a soldier using nothing but the standard weapons of such a time. its never been done to my knowledge. of course, the S in FPS would now mean slashing, but it'd be fun.

Never! There's life in the old dog yet.

I'm not a religious man, but I have faith in Infinity Ward.
