I read a lot of Calvin and Hobbes as a kid. A Lot. I was sarcastic before most kids my age knew what sarcasm was. By age 7 I was spitting so much sarcasm teachers were placing bets on my sarcasm saturation percentage.

Being British instils a natural upbringing among highly sarcastic people, but also a less than normal upbringing and life causes you to distance yourself and be colder than most.

Sarcasm is much easier on the internet to actually do, but not so easy for the people reading the sarcasm. I think sarcasm on the internet should be accompanied by at least one humorous smiley so people know it's not serious. Unless it's the obvious type of sarcasm where the statement is really silly.

I'm not really very sarcastic on the internet or anywhere else though. Only occasionally!

No. I win.

Sarcasm shotgun. It's a misanthropy 500 with a cynicism grip and a tight sense of wit. Fires 12 gauge sigh-shot. The enhanced version comes with an eye rolling reducer.
lol. That's pretty good. :)

I spent a good 14 years of my life with an older brother who would hurt me whenever I annoyed him, I tried to fight back physically but when you're young being a few years older means a lot. So I took snide little digs at him whenever I could and through that I began to insult people a lot and tend to be very sarcastic. It didn't stop him but at least it entertained me when he didn't even realise I was insulting him.

It's mostly a reaction to stupidity around me, but where did it come from? I don't know, my upbringing maybe. But that doesn't sound right, nobody in my family is overly sarcastic... TV and book perhaps, I do like my character witty/sarcastic.

actually that's cynism.
what's the difference?
cynism is the transcendent version of sarcasm.

having no faith in humanity and thinking things as everyone around me is shit makes you a cynic.
