I've heard that it's a company called "Obsidian" that's making New Vegas. I've heard that's a bad thing.
Lots of former Black Isle staffers, game creds include NWN2 and KotOR2... yeah, sound terrible to me.
Well more specifically they did the original Fallout games, not to mention have Brian Fargo with them who invented the beginnings of the entire Franchise with "Wasteland". When thinking of Black Isle I tend to think more towards their work with "Baldur's Gate", and "Planescape: Torment".
As far as the original question on TES 5 goes, I think we'll hear about it eventually. My major concern is that it will continue to reduce the RPG elements instead and turn into some kind of first person action game. Truthfully while I think Morrowwind was the strongest game overall, I felt it was missing a lot of things that Daggerfall had, and Oblivion further reduced it more. To some extent I almost dread seeing what they might come out with.
On some levels I hope that Obsidian gets full control of the Fallout liscence simply because I think Bethesda is incapable of really writing it properly, not with their current attitude, and Bethesda works on launching it's own post apocolyptic or science fiction RPG franchise from the ground up.
For example while the satirical retro-future thing is cool, I think a lot could be done with a more serious take on the whole idea. Something akin to a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game fleshed out into more of a skill based RPG, in an apocolyptic world as opposed to being limited to the aftermath of one specific disaster. Basically I think Bethesda would do better to create their own world, than to try and emulate someone else's writing.
