The biggest dick slam in Valve history since they let Gearbox lock up Adrien Shepard.
I just did a huge double-take considering that's the name of my main profile on MassEffect. I totally forgot about that guy.

OT: Most of my enthusiasm for the game has vanished. I mean sure, I'll still be glad to see it released but I just can't get excited remembering it's in the works anymore(like I could with ME3 or F:NV).

Also, I'd think that Valve would just go ahead and announce it themselves, not wait for something like the VGAs.

As much as I hate to admit it, we will probably have to wait 5 years for about 5 or 6 hours of gameplay. Valve, if it is going to take this long for an "episode" you better make it the most radtacular kicked-his-kids-because-they-ate-his-chips game ever made.

I'm pretty sure Valve already said they won't do it, and make a true Half-Life 3 instead. The Source engine is getting pretty old, that's definitely for the best.

I don't really care about Half-life anymore. TF2 is still going strong, they should get really good with the FPS ropes by screwing around with that before they attempt anything else. Preferably, I'd like a new franchise. Everything has to die eventually.
I agree with you, but I also feel you should finish a series.

OT: By this point, I'd like to see something to prove it even exists.

As a fan of Valve, I have come to expect excellent, top notch, first rate products...at some point. I'd like Episode 3 ASAP, but I'm not bothered by the wait. It will be profitable, so I know they are working on it. In the mean time, there's a lot of video games in the world to play. I would say that I hope its a priority, but everything else Valve does is also great, so no matter what, I'm pretty much fine with things.

I'd rather it'd be later and better. however, you let companies run away with things like this and they'll abuse this position to no end, like Blizzard with starcraft. A lot of people just assume that the game is good cause it took so long to develop and preorder it.

Remember kids: preorders are good for you(!)

... I feel the need to comment that my Shep's also named Adrian xD However, naming her that was 'for the lulz'/reference (even though I never did get to play Opposing Force.)

Anyway, yeah. Let the Ep3 stuff die already, get excited/pissed/entirely unmoved when it's actually announced. I wasn't expecting to see it here, but I am holding out some hope for news after, like, the credits in Portal 2.

I think Valve will announce it with a release timeframe around E3, because if they announce before then, it'll probably steal Portal 2's thunder

I personally think that they're working on the source engine to update the game from 2004. By now I doubt that they're just working on Episode 3. I believe that it's going to be the full fledged Half-Life 3. It makes sense; one of the biggest complaints from the previous episodes was how it was becoming outdated. So why not take a break and up the ante?

I wouldn't complain to much about the 3rd no where to be found part if Valve didn't end all there games in a Big ass Cliff hanger. if the end of episode 2 wasn't a big cliff hanger I would of probably posted this 3 years from now if there still wasn't any news on episode 3.

To me, they have gone past the point of no return.

Any interest I had in the Half Life franchise went about a year, maybe even 2 years ago. So basically, I dont care if it comes out or not, chances are I wont play it anyway, despite having played the previous games/ episodes.

No, as much as I love Half-Life. I've learned not to wait for Episode 3. Portal 2's been delayed until next fall already, and there isn't a soul on earth who's breathed a word about Episode 3. It's been three long, sad years of pointless hats.
Is April now in the fall?
It is if you live in the southern hemisphere. Although we call it Autumn here.

OT: I have only just recently played HL2 and Ep1 and Ep2, so I haven't been waiting for it that long. But I really want this game to come along soon.
Curses upon these Antipodean switheroos! I bet your toilet water even swirls the wrong way!

Seriously though, just because someone is speaking, er, typing English doesn't mean they're in Fresno. I know, I do the same thing all the time when talking football.

Same here. I gave away my Orange Box a couple of months ago. While I enjoyed HL2, the episodes really haven't advanced the gameplay or story and it's just been waaaaaay too long for yet another installment that doesn't resolve anything.

I don't mind a game teasing me, but Half-Life's story is more sizzle than bacon IMO.

Valve is working on Portal 2, and other trademarks it just recieved that I can't remember (DOTA?).

Don't expect work on Episode 3 for a few years.
