I was thinking London in the 1700s. Lots of scenic buildings and historic locations to climb on :D
This. And you should play as a WOMAN this time!

Yea London would be great but you have to remember this is assassin creed were talking about who would you go up against or kill. Sherlock Holmes or Mr. Hyde an Dr. Jackal not much to go off of yet climbing Big Ben would be very nice even better jumping off of him.

So nobody else wants any more Altair? I'm disappointed.
I would. When I actually read some of the codec material and found out that several of Leonardo's "innovations" for Ezio were really Altair's doing, I had to laugh.
It makes it sound like the first Assassin's Creed was all about Altair's bloody growing up. He seems to have gotten up to loads and loads of adventures in between the Third Crusade and the Exciting Escapades of Ezio the Evidently Excitable E-Z-Assassin.

It should take place in the Sprawl, sometime before Dead Space 2 happens. I mean, it's not like it would make any less sense then Assassin's Creed already does.

...seriously Ubisoft. Why did you do this to such a promising franchise?!?

France, i don't really care what Timeline period; but if i could choose it'll either be during: the Carolus Magnus Empire (either during the 700 AC or when he's crown emperor in 800), When Normans invade England in 1066, during the crusades but in Europe, or during the Black Plague! the Hundred Years War, between the 1500 & 1700 (Musketeer age XD), or Napoleonic Era...

it could even be when Jules Brunet went to Japan...

(where hollywood made a bad reimagination of the true story with tom cruise...)

i can't really choose one.

Maybe this is all Desmonds son in an animus, and he's reliving his dads memories, and its all just memories within memories within memories within memories - I'll stop now.
Yeah, my brother tried that theory out on me, but I don't buy it. For one thing, why bother reliving Desmond's memories at all? Either he saves the world in 2012 or he doesn't, and won't end up having a child. Even if he did, why bother reliving his memories? It's not exactly ancient history.
maybe because in the distant future he must save the solar system !

Feudal Japan, please.

Lots of cool looking buildings to climb and we get to be a ninja.

Though my guess is it will probably be Paris or somewhere with lots of familiar landmarks.
Japan would be freaking sweet. Problem is, it would seem that Desmond's ancestors were located in a far more west area.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: French Revolution.

~ It's in the late 1700s, meaning that it's a leap forward in time from AC2, but also not terribly far away from the future.
~ It is a time period in which weapons such as swords and daggers weren't obsolete.
~ It's a time of extreme chaos, extreme political unrest, danger and suspicion, meaning plenty of gameplay opportunities and a suitable setting for a game featuring assassins.
~ There would be HUNDREDS of assassination opportunities. HUNDREDS, I TELL YOU.
~ There are dozens of historical figures, events, and places of interest that could be incorporated into the game, much like they were in AC2: Napoleon, Marie Antoinette, the execution of King Louis, the storming of the Bastille, the Reign of Terror, etc.
~ Just as you could explore famous landmarks in AC2 -- cathedrals, for example -- this could be perfectly possible here. (Somebody tell me they DON'T want to leap about the Palace of Versailles. TELL ME.)
~ The Assassins v. Templars story could be incorporated into the rebellion uprising of the lower-class against the upper-class (greedy Templars).
~ It would be set in a foreign country with a new foreign language to butcher, which Ubisoft seems to like doing with the series.
~ To the best of my knowledge, this setting hasn't been covered before.
~ I can't believe you need anymore reasons.

Victorian London would also be good, but I kinda groan to myself a little when I see the Feudal Japan and WW1/2 replies. I most definitely don't think it would be a wise move on Ubisoft's part to set AC3 entirely in the future. Yeah, we're going to HAVE to see more of Desmond at some point, but it's really the history that truly makes AssCreed unique: let's face it, it's not the actual stealth that's holding this series up. If it's set completely in 2012, it's almost lumping in its lot with everything else, and probably pretty badly, in comparison to other games with a modern-era setting (hint: lots).

Also, who likes Desmond. Seriously. I couldn't stand to play as him for a 10-20 hour game.
Pretty much this. I just don't have the patients to type all that out ; )

I'd be happy in either in France or England. Lots of time period possibilities. If we go Victorian England, I want the ancestor to be a woman, who has to kill in those bigass dresses.

London after the French Revolution. Bare bones plot being the Templars have won a major victory in France, overthrowing the monarchy and installing a Templar government in its place. Now the Templars have their sights set on London, sending agents and spies to sow the seeds of revolution. They will achieve this by starting a revolution and stealing a piece of Eden in possesion of the British Monarchy (remember that piece of eden that Queen Elizabeth 1st had in that AC2 puzzle) and using it to subjigate the country.

The Assasins, after failing to prevent the Templars victory in France, have to stop the Templars gaining a foothold in London or getting close to the piece of Eden. Your character could be similar to Ezios story, son of a nobleman (except he knows about the assasins) and all that stuff.

Just an idea.

This or victorian London.
That would actually be awesome. So much scope for cool costumes and massive churches/buildings to climb.

Sorry mate, when I heard Carribean and Cpt. Jack Sparrow I thoght you meant pirate style. If there are tall buildings about then it sounds good to me, though I'm not sure that there were major events ocurring: Crusades, Renaisance, something on that scale.
