I like the idea of it being in the Wastelands of London.
London would be cool, but it doesn't really have the landmarks. Trafalgar Square, Nelson's Coloumn, Parliment, Buckingham Palace etc. are all okay, but it's a very olde quaint London. All the things I associate with London (The Eye, The Dome, The Gherkin, Canary Wharf) are post-60s and so don't really fit in with Fallout's setting.

More importantly, I don't want to see a game full of voice actors butchering English accents.

I would vote for any major metropolitan area in the world, doesn't matter which country.

Yeah the whole accent thing would be a nightmare.

But Parliament, The Palace, Big Ben and Traflagar Square are pretty important landmarks. About on par with the ones used in Fallout 3. But the London Eye and Canary Wharf would be missed by me.

Canary Wharf is a great building, it also feels good to say it. thank you Doctor Who

sure other countries would have ghouls
Ghouls are the product of the FEV as well.

If the game isn't set in the US it means no mutants and no power armour. Which means theres no real point calling it Fallout is there?

Well, I'd like to see other countries. Though probably that would take the Vaults away from the game.

Sorry if my Fallout backstory is a little rusty, but was there any kind of damage in China? That's where the bombs came from, right?
For all we know, America might be the only nation left with living people or it might be the only nation to be turned into a nuclear wasteland
fallout 1-"in serveral hours, the entire planet was reduced to cinders". does that give any clue how the rest of the world is? anywhere OTHER than the US would be BOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRINNNNNNGGGGGG as america was the ONLY guys with bioweapons that MADE hostile mutants. sure other countries would have ghouls but not any sort of radscorpion, mutant bears, etc because those were products of FEV. FEV was an american product that started the nuclear war in the first place. if the secret of FEV didn't get out of memphis, the nuclear war would have never have happened.
I'm pretty sure there's a way around the pre-established plot to make room in non-american nations such as the economical recession leading to establishments of sister (or clone) corporations similar to those who developed FEV that undergo experiments in nations were workers are cheap and technical capacity is limited leading to new nuclear scenarios (aka Writers trying to sound clever by mentioning "cheap labour" and "economical recession" in a video game)

There could be a Fallout game outside the US. The fact that there were foreign people in Fallout 3 (Moriarty, Tenpenny, Dukov) proves that people outside the US have survived. However as far as I'm aware of, the US is the only country that legalises guns for the public, so it would be pretty boring that you can't shoot the nasties of the European wastelands.

I like the idea of wandering through castles though

well harold was the only known FEV ghoul. its still unknown if the rads emitted BY the FEV vats in mariposa changed him or the FEV did it itself. they all say radiation so i am inclined to go with the radiation theory.
In the Fallout bible it's stated that necropolis was infected with airborne FEV from the Millitary base.

How about my tiny hometown suburb of Sterling, Virginia

What? MW2 is specualted to have set the level "Wolverines!" here, apparently the layout of the streets and the games code suggest it according to the CoD wikia.

Its too close to Washington the original setting so I don't know but in all seriousness it would be interesting to see a more rural or suburban post-appocalyptic area, then again I never owned the game and know next to nothing about the expansions so maybe they've already done it

When is any game gonna feature Philadelphia? I would love to walk through the ruins of my neighborhood. Or wreak havoc in it in some other game.
I think tactics was set there my good fellow.

Fallout: New Orleans would be interesting.
I've said it before and I'm sayin it again it would be too much like point lookout.

Last time I checked, Point Lookout was just DLC. And besides, Point Lookout was a lot of fun. Just because it was DLC that doesn't mean you can't have similar areas in the full game.

I'm gonna say London as a Brit but:

1. Only if it was done to the exact maps layout. I want to see tube stations as they appear in real life, I want to see Canary Wharf and the Dome recreated lovingly. I would want to see the Palace and Oxford Street recreated precisely. Big Ben, the Houses of Parliment, The London Eye, London Bridge and Tower Bridge. I would honestly like it to be precise enough that someone playing the game, who has never actually visited London, to be able to use it as a map.

I've not actually been to Washington so I can't comment on how true the game is to the real place.

2. Actual British voice actors please. Not people who just sound like upper class toffs or Cockney's... Actually I suppose you could get away with it if it were solely in London...

3. If before the war it was portrayed like Orwell's 1984. That would make for an interesting society post apocalypse and would form an Enclave type government to oppose.

4. errr. Can't think... Too early in the morning. Need sleep.
