I was two hours on my shift at work. I was in the US Air Force doing my job. We got a call from our flight office to turn on the news after the first plane hit. Needless to say work halted long enough to see what was going on. We thought it was some sort of an accident. When the Pentegon was hit we got another call. The entire AF went Delta. We were locked down. We scrambled to clean up everything, did a security sweep, locked every access point. And stayed in our building for 16 hours.

Since work was permanently interupted all we had to do is watch the TV. We saw the second tower hit. When they fell, we got another call saying we are under attack. Do not go outside not even to our vehicles. Our base was told to stay indoors so Security Forces can do their job in looking for threats. In our buildings we had control because we knew who was supposed to be there. Outside SF had control, but they don't know everybody. They have to check everyone they see walking around to see if they were allowed on base . In uniform or not. We were not allowed to be outside to distract them. Also in case of a sniper or other attack.

Nobody could get off base. And nobody could get on. All persons that were due for work were called and told to stay at home until further notice. We were also told to not wear our uniform to or from work for weeks. Any USAF member wearing their uniform offbase publically would be in trouble. Something that the USAF likes us doing to show pride to our local community was all of a sudden taboo.

That was a very wierd time in general. It was even more so for someone in the military. Although not as wierd compared to what the people in New York were living.

I wasn't alive back then.
Your eight?
My eight?! What about it?
You haven't washed it in a while and it's starting to smell.
I don't know what you're talking about, my eight is shiny and smells like potpourri.
No, It's covered in mold and stinks like a horses anus.
Fuck you. Don't you ever say that to me again, or I will, so help me, have to launch countermeasures.
I stole the codes for your countermeasures launch sequence!

Ahahahahahahaha!
Don't lie to yourself.

I was in High School at the time then I saw everyone running to one of the T.Vs we had in the cafeteria. Many thought we were being invaded (from who? I don't know). An hour later our princple came on the PA to tell us about it and called for a moment of silence (He had family that lived in New York).

I was in school all day, I didn't found out till after school that something happened. I also found out that we were the only school in New York that didn't get let out. It would have been nice to know that something horrible happened to my country never the less my state.

I was at school. It was an English class and we were reading Romeo and Juiliet. I remember the Vice Principle coming in (I was in America at the time) and telling us someone had flown a plane into the World Trade Centre.

What made it worse, was that my school was in Connecticut, and hour away from New York, and you could see the smoke on the horizon. Quite a few kids didn't show up for the next few weeks either.

-Shrug- I got home and wanted to watch Cartoon Network, to which my mother inquired "Don't you care about what's going on?" to which I replied "No".

Courage the Cowardly Dog (One of my personal favourite cartoons back in the day) was on, still would watch that over 11/9 now.

This thread has been done several times. But on topic. I was busy not caring.
Links? I searched for "9/11", "where were you 9/11", "where were you nine eleven" and "where were you WTC". Got nothing relevant.
The latest one. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.135427] (Apparently I did not post in that one so there is at least another one within the last two months somewhere.)
The search bar is easy to use. Just set it to check titles only otherwise you get nothing but crap.
thats fascinating. Because i go strait to the search forums and type in that exact sentence and nothing comes up. I mean nothing. Not even just threads. Bizarre.

I was in ninth grade, in my advanced algebra class. They made an announcement over the PA, and my teacher put the news on the TV. The entire rest of the day was spent going from class to class in my normal schedule, but in every class we were just watching the news. I remember we did see the second plane hit. I'll never forget where I was. Definitely our generation's JFK assassination.

I was at school, and at that point I was a naive little boy.
It was a couple of years until I actually fully grasped what happened to be honest.
