After just having seen the United 93 movie, I thought back to the day on which it happened. Religious or not, conspiracy-believer or not, American or not, I think we can all agree that 9/11 has made a major impact on pretty much everybody on this planet.

So my question is, where were you when it happened? Do you recall how you heard the news?

As for me, I remember it fairly well. It was a wednesday and I initially didn't get the news - my parents worked for most of the day and when they got home we had dinner and they drove me over to the swimming pool where me and some classmates used to go swim every week. Once I got my swimming trunks on and went into the pool one of my then-friends said "Hey did you see those planes go into the WTC?". He was kind of an action freak so I didn't think much of it, but when me and my family were watching the news later that evening it only became clear what the magnitude was of what had happened.

Edit: And please, I don't need to hear about whether you don't give a shit or how it's stupid that I'm asking people to remember 'a random day'. That discussion is exactly the one I was trying to avoid when I opened up my post with the "Religious or... this planet" sentence. "It didn't mean much to me" is ok, but if you're wanting to post stuff along the lines of "Who cares about where I was, I'm depressed and nobody cares about me/9-11 was a hoax/it's stupid to even think about it" then please just do not reply at all.

I was stood on top of the tower.

On a more serious note, I was in school when I heard, for it was announced in assembly.

I still remember Lauren walking past me talking telling rachel that the petagon was on fire. Thats the first moment i had any contact with the information. Then Mrs.... "whats her name i can't remember" told us when class started. It was crazy. I was 11.

I was in my aunt's bathroom when it the second one hit (I think it was the second, anyway), brushing my teeth and getting ready for her to take me to school.

2nd grade, school, didn't understand. Not exactly sure why it's important that we know where we were during the event, but whatever.

School camp, about 3 miles from the middle of nowhere.

We thought the world was going to war, and we'd come back to destroyed civilization, as we had no communication with the outside world.

Ahhh, silly overactive child brain.

I was in a literature class when I found out. My mom pulled me out of class because she wanted to be with her family.
And for the record, September 11th 2001 was on a Tuesday, not Wednesday.

I was at school. They didn't tell us what was going on, so we just watched the teachers panic and pretend nothing was happening. That sure was fun.

Same I was only like 6 or 7 at the time and I'm too lazy to remember.

It totally went over my head, I was at school, I think there was some sort of announcement or something...I didn't really give a crap cause I was fairly young...you know actually I still don't really care about it.

I remember walking down the ramp that went to my elementary school's gym and seeing a TV with some towers on it in the morning. Later our teacher told us that we were attacked. I took the news softly compared to the rest of the nation.

I was in my English class in 7th grade. In the middle of class, my teacher received a phone call. She hung up, turned on the tv in the classroom to the news, and nobody said anything.

I'm never going to forget that day for as long as I live.
