Where were you?

I myself was on a family holiday driving through New Zealand.
We were in a big rented caravan, along with three other families of friends, stopping here and there. I'd mostly sit in the back of the huge trucks and read a book while we were on the road. That's when I read through Lord of the Rings.
So, escapist, where were you when the Westfold fell?

I swear, when I read the thread title I thought this was going to be a 9/11 thread. The aniversary was yesterday, after all. Anyway, back to LOTR. Yeah, I never really bothered with the books, too heavy for me (this coming from a guy whose favourite book series is made up of 11 books each consisting of over 600 pages). So for me, I was in the cinema watching the greatest battle ever (Siege of Minas Tirith/Battle of the Pelennor Fields) on a massive screen.

Judging by other responses that it has something to do with LoTR, I'll say I was probably sat on my old sofa.
unless it's in the first book, then I probably read it while sitting on a bench outside junior school... but I doubt it.
