Where Will Fallout 4 Be Set?

Probably in western South Dakota around the Black Hills. The reason being for this belief is that the two Fallout games I played were in an area that could be said to contain people, buildings, and places that are interesting or culturally important to America. South dakota contains the monuments of Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse, the Black Hills, Badlands, and Missori River, Indians and gambling towns, all of which could be combined to make a great area to base a Fallout game in.

Canada, obviously. Everything else good has been happening to them recently. I don't mean one city, or anything like that. I mean all of Canada. All of it. This of course would lead to a scenario where not all of the map would be Fallout-esque. Parts of it might even be, you know, livable. Not build around unexploded atomic bombs. With clean water, and things like civil police forces, where stealing and murder are still wrong, and there exists a federal currency, and places to exchange said federal currency for products that were lawfully traded and sold. Just think how much a loop that would throw you, as you stumbled into town trying to trade your in your bottlecaps, only to find them utterly useless. Imagine how much of a prat you'd look, wearing your leather skins and cooking pans, next to people wearing normal attire. Ha!
You watched that movie Gunless didn't you?

I think that a Fallout game set in either the Commonwealth, Texas, Louisiana, or somewhere in one of the states near Canada would be interesting.(Canada was annexed by the US before the bombs fell so a Fallout game could possibly be made there) And while a Fallout game in Europe or something would be cool, I doubt we'll ever see it happen because for all we know the European countries are fine and just don't want to acknowledge the US after it got nuked. I also don't think it would be a good idea to go to China because too many things would be missing and you would more than likely be limited to only being able to play as a Chinese person.

To anyone whining about Bethesda's inability to write story and lore, that any Fallout game after Fallout 2 does not count, or that Fallout 3 and New Vegas sucked because of all the bugs, get over it unless you plan on actually doing something about it aside from whining. And Unless you can see a big fat 4 in the title of Fallout New Vegas, it is not Fallout 4.

Never seen it, actually. I just found the concept hilarious. You mean there's a movie about that idea? Neat. I'll have to pretend to look into it.

And American gunslinger accidentally crosses the border into Alberta, and becomes confused when nobody wants to have a high plains quick draw with him.

It'd allow for pretty varied terrain too. Although I'm not sure I want to walk across the prairies, but that's partly because I grew up in the mountains and find flat land incredibly boring. XD

Definitely /thread

In all honesty though, Florida or Louisiana would be really awesome for that reason and that reason alone.

OT: Seattle area or New York would be good methinks; either would be interesting.

Beautiful. Yeah, pretty much that, in game form. With more Deathclaws.

Well, in fairness, it's because flat land is incredibly boring. Have you ever seen Kansas? At first, you're like "Hey, cool, corn!" And then you realize, that that's all there ever will be. Sure, it's pretty, and scenic, and a whole heap of words that make your ears have tiny little wordgasms, but beyond that, there's nothing there. Nothing like the perilous peaks of a large impassible hill with ideas about being bigger than it really is to get your tingles up. Mountains are awesome. They can have all kinds of things around that draw you in. Like passive rivers with remarkable undercurrents, and imminent death by bears looking for a free snack. You don't get that kind of thrill on a plain.

Australia. Best thing is, since its already mostly desert full of giant animals wanting to kill you they won't have to use much imagination. Just send one of those robots out with a camera and put it directly into a game.

I really would like to see it in Toronto, Canada, besides being in my home country and favorite city, it would lead to a refreshing change of tone. In the US, all the factions are decided, as well as the environment. The whole this is static and done. Doing it in Canada would allow for new factions, and thus, new themes to be explored. Furthermore, because we were only technically a part of the US, we wouldn't have been much of a target. A lot of the infrastructure would still be standing. There would be radically different monsters running around, who evolved to suit the unique environments even more.

However, if I were to pick a location, I might also pick Salt Lake City Utah. Fact is, the mormons that live their have become a powerful force comparable to the old Templar. Imagine what we could do with that, though it would be controversial, it is interesting exploring the idea of what Christianity and this particular branch, could become over time when stressed to its limits. Throw in some fear of technology and ultra conservationism, and you've got an interesting lens to explore the limits of faith and humanity.

That said, I really hope Bethesda just stays out of fallout's way, and leaves it to the pros at Obsidian who actually know what they're doing.

Thank you for contributing to my nightmares for the following weeks.
Glad I could be of service :). I wouldn't worry too much though, you'll be fine if the dart gun will be available in Fallout 4. If on the other hand it will be absent like in New Vegas, consider yourself royally fucked XD.

Orlando Florida, anyone? Tell me sniping feral ghouls from the top of the Epcot Center wouldn't be the highlight of the year.

It'd be interesting to see a country which collapsed under the economic and political fallout of the nuclear winter, rather than as a direct result of the nuclear winter itself.

Basically, set the game to very hard by default.
funny thing is I don't think australia got bombed there is no evidence in the lore

East and West Coast have been covered in 3 and New Vegas. Where should #4 sit? I kinda want it to be set in the north, maybe along the border between the States and annexed Canada. I wonder what sort of Canadian stereotypes would exist in the 2280s.
