They need to change a lot more than what city it takes place in for me to show any interest.

Maybe something like, Grand Theft Back to the Future! It could start with you as a thug who carjacks the Doc's DeLorean.
DELETE THAT POST NOW!!! ITS TOO EPIC!!

I think it'd be nice to see Sydney or London, especially because I've never been to the latter.

Just something other than an American city.

Tokyo, Hong Kong or Sydney would all be pretty good imo

Maybe an asian chick as the lead character.

Or an aussie bogan :p

IF they made a Victorian one they need to get the 'Penny Dreadfuls' on board for voice work, they're a Victorian sketch comedy group, and truly brilliant!

I'm still stuck on my idea of GTA:UK, with 3 or 4 cities recreated, linked by airports, but no stealing planes, as the last thing we need is the media getting their hands on 'terrorist training simulator'. But the chance to go from London, to Manchester, to Belfast, to Glasgow, and back to London, would let them craft a great tale, and hire some great voice acting too, and hopefully keep it more comedic and less 'oh woe is me, war and my old country, and my life is horrible...'

Seems to be a common theme that the best 'setting' so far was the bright neon streets of Vice City, and I'm reading many people are enjoying Saint's Row 2 more than GTA4, purely in gameplay terms, so maybe we need to step away from gritty realism.

For me, if I'm going to be murdering hundreds of people during a game, I prefer it not to be too realistic.

Here's another thing, the 'drink driving' of GTA4 was hilarious, yet here's the kicker, I have no urge to get hammered and go for a cruise, because I know its not like that for real.

Away for me. It just seems really stale IMO. Not hating just saying that i would rather play a new Rockstar IP rather than GTA: Been Here Already Done This

Hopefully it will go away. For ever. And in the process it will wipe itself from the annals of gaming history and all of our minds.

Its amazing how many people still make the Palin-esque mistake of saying Africa, like its one big country. Be more specific!!! There are massive cities, small towns and wildlife areas, just like every other continent.

I'd love a steampunk version. Or a 'European' version, with different cities linked by planes, like Amsterdam, Bratislava, Moscow (it is European, right?) etc.

Or maybe a pre-1989 East-Berlin version?

I'm in full agreement of having a strong female protagonist too.

However, while obviously sex will play a part in an 18 rated game, I'd prefer it if she wasn't hopping onto every living thing for kicks, or using her body to get around people.

Sure it can happen, but I'd hate it to be the main reason they have a female lead, just to shoehorn extra sex into the game.

Maybe a widow of a previous character, hell bent on revenge!

Edit: I just read about APB, a female cop who lost her partner and has gone rogue, there's GTA5's perfect lead. No need for her to be too glamorous and wander around in bikinis with her implants bouncing around like a hacked DOA character.

After all, its not like Niko, CJ, or Tommy were placed in the game purely to appeal to the ladies.

The location is irrelevant now, the city of GTA4 was fantastic and pretty much the sole reason the game got so many 10/10s. They need to sort out the gameplay. I would be fine if they slightly expanded the city and polished it, kept the physics, and then totally revamped the boring story, boring tutorial, linear missions and boring characters.

]ummm... i would have to agree with Tokyo.
tokyo would be sweet, so would Hong Kong. Course they could possibly pull a san andreas and have the whole thing take place in Japan.

I have an epic Idea
GTA Moscow, and I have the whole plot in my mind:
A stupied, american (Or even better, a bouston..ion) young guy with super sayen levels of hair gel, was grow during the cold war, when America and Russia were big rivals. at the time, all he heard all the time is about how russia sucks and that commis are evil. befor the cold war ended, he was sent to a millatery acadamy, where he got kicked out of after trying to sleep with the princables, daughter >.> ...
Now after a few years of gathering money, he flies the russia to kill some 'commis', and with a crazy french (or british, or italian, or whatever) conspirasy theorist that was sent to russian jail after trying to kill some random russians, as his 'mission' arranger.

I even though of an easter egg: in an air port mission, where you need to go rambo and kill every one, in the end there will be a cut sence like this: Nicko is seen coming out of a plane, mummring in russian (with subs): 'agh! filthy Americans and there dumb radio, Who in hell is *Popupler singer* any ways?!' *looks at what the player is doing from the side* 'on second thought' *whislte the American anthom and goes back to the plane*

London and the surrounding cities/towns/country side. That is my vote. GTA Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels style is just what I need from GTA.
