I dunno where people are actualyl coming up with suggestions for REAL places... GTA will has never, and I really doubt it will ever, be set in a real place (San Andreas doesn't really count IMO)

It could be BASED off a city in the UK (Glasgow or London :D) Or maybe Tokyo.

I kinda want them to make another 'Bully' using the GTA 4 engine. Maybe they can set it in college or something. Definitely keep it in New England though.

I think London would be pritty cool. Nice change of pace. Let the yanks play on out turf for a change.

But I do like the Tokyo idea. Actually that sounds more fun, more alien.

I'd like the next GTA to be set somewhere in continental Europe, but I think that's unlikely. It'll almost certainly be set in America again. And I like the idea of a female protagonist.

Gta V: Antarctic stories. You play as the enuit Moblu and you can steal sledhounds to "pimp" your sled, fight against whales and walruses to earn respect, trash some foes igloo and enjoy hours of fun catching fish in order to stay alive.

Las Vegas. It would be awesome to do a drive-by on my own house.
I couldn't say about the house, but Las Vegas could be a lot of fun.

someone said new orealens(sp?) that sounds like a cool idea. i mean if u use the idea where someone who was a normal everyday citzen that had to become a crimnal because the goverement let them down after the hurricane came through. it have a chance to be the most human story in GTA game.

the idea of toyko is pretty cool too. the only problem with that is as densely poupulated as toyko is im not sure u could do it justice but then again there arent 100's of ppl on the street in GTA4. plus poor people in toyko dont have cars from what ive seen the walk alot and depend alot on mass transit. so itd take some of the grand theft auto out of GTA. still i think it could work

It'd be hard to pull of the New Orleans story without it being insulting/patronising, though.

As opposed to shooting hookers and taking your money back? It'd be nice if they took themselves seriously for once in the story.

That could be a potentially amazing game. The first 1/3 takes place before Katrina, the middle 1/3 is running around trying to stay alive during the flooding, and the final 1/3 is getting the violence and gangs under control. Contrary to insulting people in New Orleans, it would raise awareness and even boost tourism, commerce. At the very least, it could get people talking about FEMA and the issues that so few even understand.

I wnat it set in the UK.

Let the yanks go through the whole "driving on the wrong side of the road" thing we have to.
Im not sure but I think that "we Yanks" are one of the only countries that drive on the right hand side of the road. so if anyone drives on the wrong side of the road its us.

anyway I would like to see it in some European country that would be a nice change of pace.
well case in point.

YOU drive on the wrong side of the road, let US drive on the correct side, and YOU have to get used to driving on the left, and wonder why you're heading into oncoming traffic.
Actually most countries drive on the right side of the road. As seen by this chart.

The red countries drive on the right, the blue ones on the left. As you can see, YOU are the minority.

Anyway, I'd like to see the next one set in Mexico. I bet it'd be awesome.

edit: damn, somebody beat me to it.

I've really enjoyed GTA IV, but Liberty City is my least favourite setting, both in GTA III and IV. I think that GTA is at its best when it's in an environment that helps the humour of the game come through, like Vice City; so a return there would be good, or maybe a larger version of Las Venturas in the Seventies.

I like the idea of being able to move between cities that has been suggested by some other people. Perhaps starting in a smaller town in America, moving to one of the big cities I mentioned above, and perhaps having to go to Sicily to do some missions for a family over there. But that would be quite ambitious, and I think we can expect a couple of iterations that don't innovate too much; so I'll save that for GTA V.

Oh, and let's not get in to a big debate over who drives on the best side of the road. They're both good sides of the road.
