Seeing as so many new MMORPG's are usually being hailed as being the "WoW killer" where do people think it will come from or will it just last until Blizzard bring out their next MMORPG?

It will either be The Old Republic or the next Blizzard game.

I doubt WoW needs a killer (horrible phrasing). It does look like it's (very very very very) slowly dying on its own.

I think that Blizzard will be the eventual culprit. Either by a sucessor MMO, or changing WoW too much and driving off it's subscribers.

...Nowhere. WoW will eventually die on its own and the gap will be filled with a variety of smaller MMOs until something new takes over. Nothing last forever. Ozymandias WoW is waiting...

World of Warcraft has years and years of content and developmental backing at this point. No singular game is going to come out and be "bigger" than WoW; it's just not a feasible undertaking. You're not just competing with the original development cycle of the game but with all of the iteration and development that came after.

It's laughable to look for a game that will "kill" World of Warcraft. The only thing that's going to truly do it in one day will be old age. Market focus will continue to shift over time but that's about all. Hell, Ultima Online is still alive and that's 13 years old. It's still not "dead."

If an MMO is truly going to die, it generally does so shortly out of the gate.

I can't really seeing it getting a killer - aiming for an equal might be better.

I highly doubt all the promises that ToR is making, but I'll wait and see.

The WoW killer will come from Blizzard. And only Blizzard. At this point, it's not just an MMO, it's a pop culture phenomenon, which means they don't even need advertising anymore.

WoW 2, shall be the WoW killer. As declared by the prophet.

OT: Even though that was a joke its prolly not far off from the truth. WoW is too enrooted in the MMORPG community that it would take a lot to take it out, and blizzard has the financial backing to make sure their game stays on top through up dates and expansions.

Why does something have to kill WoW? Surely it's possible just to exist alongside it.

TF2 Is becoming more MMO like maybe one day it will jump the gap and people will try a different MMO and find that FPS mixes really well with RPG

Nothing will kill it until it dies of old age.
It's invincible.
But it's equal will come from somewhere noone expects, or an up-and-coming developer that will take the MMO front by surprise.
That's my guess.

The Future of MMOs [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/extra-credits/1906-The-Future-of-MMOs].

Nothing is going to "kill WoW". It will eventually fall out of favor and start to fade away until Guild Wars 2 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.236131-All-yours-Guild-Wars-2-Information-Topic-Dungeon-Info-Updated#8408898] finally surpasses it in sales and subscriptions in 5-10 years, maybe.
