Oh, this thread again.
I don't get how so many people can play the
Fallout games and miss the point that it has to be in America.
Fallout isn't about a nuclear apocalypse, it's about an exaggerated nuclear apocalypse based on the limited scientific knowledge and fear surrounding radiation during the 1950's. Furthermore, it's about how American culture from that time period was affected by this war. Honestly, it makes no sense to make a
Fallout game outside of America since it won't be
Fallout.
The only place I would even consider outside of America would be Canada. That's only because America had annexed Canada prior to the war, so American culture was already having a huge influence on it. It would be interesting to see how this affected the people living in Canada. Still, it would have to be handled well otherwise it wouldn't be true to the
Fallout franchise. Anything else would be missing the point completley.

As I've said in another thread. One of the major themes of Fallout is 1950s Americana. Which doesn't work in other countries.
Stick to the States.
Despite wielding Plasma/Laser weapons, solar powered satellite weapons, mini nuke launchers, power armour and such in a game set in 2077? I only get the 1950's feel from the song choices. Which could easily be replicated in a European location.
All of which is based on the culture from the 1950's. The game may take place hundreds of years in the future, but the culture is still from this time period in American history.
There's also the fact that most of the things you commonly associate with the
Fallout franchise (Super Mutants, the Master, Poseidon Energy, the Enclave, the Brotherhood of Steel, etc.) could not possibly exist outside of America. How is it a
Fallout game if it is missing most of the things that have been staples in the franchise?
