Assuming you like the series I wish to ask this question. Personally I would like to see it in the twin cites, And was wondering where my fellow escapists would like it to take place in?

I would love to see them do one that takes place across Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas like the old top down games were done, and have it so you can drive between each area if you want with towns and smaller cities along the way.

I know that this is way too much for today's technology to handle but it is honestly what I'd like to see.

The lack of color is really the only thing I disliked about 4. Maybe something a bit more over the top like Saints Row. But then It'll be like Saints Row. Hmmm

Well a little more color at least.

I don't know, somewhere not the U.S. or China.

Dubai? Cairo?

Saints Row 1 was partially based on Detroit, it was mostly Chicago.
And it was called Stillwater, I'd like a game set in actual Detroit, just to see where they'd go with it.

Sydney!

If it's not Australian, it doesn't really matter to me. I don't know the difference between one American city and another.

What's really important is that they have a protagonist as interesting as Niko, but I doubt they can pull that one off.

In the imaginations of the assholes who make those games. And I would like it to never leave.

Ninja'd by first response.

Detroit is such a perfect fit for the GTA series it's uncanny. Cars, crime, drugs, major population centre with easy skyline and downtown to work with. Hell, Canada's right across the border; there's all kinds of potential stories in border towns.

But the biggest reason why I'd love a GTA: Motor City (you're welcome) is because I live in the Canadian town across from Detroit. I'd love to see Windsor in a AAA video game.

I think that the game devs would be a little too scared to come up here to Detroit :p, but it would be AWESOME!

I'd like the time period to be changed myself.

Maybe Washington, DC during the 60s.

From a gameplay standpoint I think t would be cool to see a city like Detroit or DC. Cities that don't necessarily have Huge Skylines and are mostly suburbs but offer up great storylines. With DC you've got the whole "City of Government" thing, and with Detroit you have the fact that for a while it was near death, the history of crime (seriously, everyone talks about Al Capone and the Chicago gangs with the booze. Where do you think he got it from? Suppliers off the Michigan-Canadian border), and the current Border Town (Windsor). Plus it could be nice to show off the entire Metro Area and Windsor to people not native in the Midwest. Hell you might even be able to do Cleveland if you tried. And that's just another modern day story, no telling what you could do if it's set in the late 70's/early 80's

I am guessing Minneapolis/ St. Paul they are the most well known Twin Cities in the U.S.

OT: Seattle maybe? that could give it some nice geographical contrasts to work w/... blind guess about the area around Seattle, I know they have mountains and lakes in the state but where is another thing. Also you could buy Gates's mansion.

This, or Puerto Rico.
Oh wait, if it was set in PR the main character would get stabbed and killed as soon as the game started. God I hate living here...

FYI,
many of the Favela scenes in Fast Five were filmed in PR, that's how crappy this place is.
