Well, Dragon Age = Oblivion, while Borderlands = Fallout 3.
And I liked Oblivion more than Fallout, so I like Dragon Age over Borderlands!
Simple
Also, can't you read?

Those are all very different games.

BTW - there has been a lot of hype around Dragon Age. None stop videos and stuff all over the web if you care to look. I just don't think it looks very impressive, and apparently neither do a lot of the gaming media.

The ads put me off intially, and the gameplay didn't look too special. If enough people I know say it's good, or some of the few reviewers I trust say it's good, I might give it a shot, but otherwise, I'll stick to my old RPGs.

I think I'm still too giddy over hearing that Mass Effect 2 will be out in January to hype up Dragon Age, though I'll probably be getting it anyway. I don't feel the need to hype it on the interweb but I'll definitely be getting it.

High Fantasy bores me. even if it is made by Bioware. The trailers were a huge turn off as well.
Well bioware have said that the story will be more hard fantasy e.g George R.R. Martin.
Of course it being bioware it will of course have all the standards of high fantasy: elves, lots of magic etc. but that said a lot of high fantasy elements would work well in a more in depth plot
Actually, Elves are second-class citizens.

While the recent ads have been annoying, I'm guessing its EA trying to be cool and a desperation to sell spells and swords to a group of gamers more used to guns. This is because the PC code has been ready since the summer (grumble, mutter etc) which is about the time the first "Hardcore" adverts were seen.

Anyway, as gamer fed up to the back teeth of having to shoot stuff and as someone who has completed every Bioware RPG since Neverwinter Nights (tried Baldurs Gate, but HATE the AD&D ruleset) I'm very hyped for this. Got my colelctors edition on pre-order and have taken friday off work in preperation for the 4 hours of installing, I mean playing :)

Exactly real world issues in a fantasy game ;)

The Witcher did similar though. Infact I think Dragon Age was heavily influenced by the novels.

Which novels?
Yeah i can see a similar style to the storys of Andrzej Sapkowski but i think that its just the type of style used in the more realistic fantasy novels. The same way a lot of high fantasy sounds like tolkien

I've seen very little on what you actually do in the game. I've read into some of the lore and such, watched a good few trailers but cant quite figure it. I'm guessing it's going to be an RPG seeing as it's Bioware. I'm looking forward to it, but it kind of looks like Oblivion, but with a more adult feel, but that might not be a bad thing.
If you're a quasi-old school gamer, it plays pretty much just like the Baldur's Gate games, at least on PC. I'm not sure how the controls work on console since they removed the top-down/"strategic" view from the console version.

Essentially, you're looking down on your characters like at an RTS perspective, and you give commands by clicking a lot. I think there's a pause mechanic to queue up commands to your whole party before they're all executed, but I'm not sure. Haven't had a chance to talk to my buddy that played it in London for their 24-hour thing yet.

Well I'm psyched for it, got it on preorder, I'm just scared of the 20gb installation, I only have 50gb left on my external hardrive :(, then again the game should be awesome :).

Shhhh!

The reason why there is no hype for it, is because we don't want it to fall from the grace of our high standards...

The less hype, the less pain we will feel if it sucks.

It comes out tomorrow. The hype is quieter than Borderlands, but it's definitely there, believe me.
What, you crazy Americans are getting three days earlier? Unless I'm mistaken in hearing it comes out on the 6th here in the UK. Still, I'm looking forward to this game. Hopefully it will go some way to fulfilling my fantasy itch that hasn't really been satisfied since Oblivion. I wonder if we will get to own a(t least one) house in this game? :)

I believe it will be a good game, but I honestly just don't care about the game. I really don't.

Odd to be honest.
There is something called, I don't know, personal opinions? Just kidding, of course you know it. :p My point is: You can say that a game can be good and appealing, but perhaps not for your tastes. I, for example, recognize both Oblivion's and Fallout 3's strengths and yet I didn't like them.

As for Dragon Age? I must say (repeat) that I'm not excited. Part of it is the lack of any really interesting features. Another part is that we return back to a boring old fantasy setting. Another part is the whole dark, edgy and gritty aspect that Bioware wants to give the game. (Seriously, what the hell is the deal with this blood dragon on the game's cover?)
Hey you don't need to explain that one to me, if someone doesn't know what a personal opinion is, they won't last long on an internet forum. ;)

I feel it's odd because I feel it's the kind of game that would appeal to me, but it just doesn't. It probably is because I've had enough games set in that type of fantasy setting, to be honest.
He he. True, so true. And not just on the internet. Then again, I've been present in quite a few forums made out of hellfires, meteor storms and hammers.

Well I guess that maybe you are in a similar position to me. I mean, I have been playing and liking Bioware games ever since Baldur's Gate was released and in every single of their games there was something interesting to look forward to. But it just doesn't seem to be the case with Dragon Age.
You know, I think you might be right. ;D

As for "Game Of The Year", hard to say. There is some decent competition out there. Especially with Modern Warfare 2 dropping in next week. But RPG Of The Year, is a pretty good reality since Mass Effect 2 isn't hitting until January.
I can't think of any major RPGs that came this year?

Am I blatantly forgetting something or has this been a bad year for RPGs?
It definitely has been a lacking year for the RPG. I would have to say that I did enjoy Star Ocean: Till the End of Time immensely. Beyond that I can't think anything else that would be worthy of mentioning.
