At any rate, if you want to you are perfectly free to use the term to describe yourself, its not like you need anyones approval after all, though you shouldnt be surprised when a lot of people dont really take you seriously when you basically use a title given to what I would call an insane person to describe yourself, just my two cents

.
You're a terrible person for saying that

(j/k!)
And my insanity is beyond reproach! And I'd be very wary of anyone who took me seriously.....

Your definition is correct from one point of view, as it was ( to my knowledge ) after all created as a derogatory term. But I have seen others self-identify as SJW's including the Sterling, Jim Sterling ( licensed to be thank god'ed for ).
That being said whether or not I choose to label myself in such a way, it has no bearing on how I'm perceived by others for the most part, and frankly those who do are unlikely to listen to my point of view regardless. Sadly both sides in these sorts of debates have those with grudges and a manifesto, anything I can to to identify those people and move on to actually having a conversation/debate, and getting to a deeper understanding of the issues is a good thing.

Now I've got a lovely picket fence to sit on while both sides( of whatever, pick an issue, personally my favourite is the old green vs. red hats debacle, nothing like a nice bit of religious persecution ) attack me with rotten tomatoes.... Good thing I choose a red dress today.
SJW FTW!!!
