The SJWs are having a nice tea party with the libtards and the contards, the wingnuts and the idiotarians, the bedwetters and the Bushistas, the freepers and the moonbats, the Randroids and the reactionaries, the Rethuglicans and the Pajamahadeen.

The inimitable Eric Cartman is of course presiding. Scones will be served.
And here I was, thinking they'd all hang out in a satellite.
But that's the SJL, not the SJW...

Mea culpa.
Eh, I could actually imagine Wonder Woman and the Black Canary getting annoyed at that. The others, not so much.

At any rate, if you want to you are perfectly free to use the term to describe yourself, its not like you need anyones approval after all, though you shouldnt be surprised when a lot of people dont really take you seriously when you basically use a title given to what I would call an insane person to describe yourself, just my two cents :).
You're a terrible person for saying that :p (j/k!)

And my insanity is beyond reproach! And I'd be very wary of anyone who took me seriously.....

OT------------

Your definition is correct from one point of view, as it was ( to my knowledge ) after all created as a derogatory term. But I have seen others self-identify as SJW's including the Sterling, Jim Sterling ( licensed to be thank god'ed for ).
That being said whether or not I choose to label myself in such a way, it has no bearing on how I'm perceived by others for the most part, and frankly those who do are unlikely to listen to my point of view regardless. Sadly both sides in these sorts of debates have those with grudges and a manifesto, anything I can to to identify those people and move on to actually having a conversation/debate, and getting to a deeper understanding of the issues is a good thing.

-------------------------------
Now I've got a lovely picket fence to sit on while both sides( of whatever, pick an issue, personally my favourite is the old green vs. red hats debacle, nothing like a nice bit of religious persecution ) attack me with rotten tomatoes.... Good thing I choose a red dress today.

SJW FTW!!!

Personally, I think Batman doesn't necessarily appreciate being reminded of his dead parents. But then again, he's essentially Captain Bringdown by this point.

Edit:

Or what BobDobolina said. That works, too.

It depends. I'm not a social justice warrior on tumblr and think a lot of the social justice stuff on tumblr is a race to the bottom to see who has it worst in the American suburbs, I think the GG started out as a smoke screen for the attacks on ZQ. And continued as such when you look at the constant refferal to SJW's and "muh-soggy-knee" and that they should keep the hell out of "our" games. I feel that if GG were a legitimate movement for journalistic ethics, there would be a much bigger push to say "All that stuff doesn't even matter in the context of journaistic ethics, being an SJW doesn't mean you're against GG". So in the context of GG and the escapist forums, I probably am an SJW.

As an aside, the g in misogyny is soft.

As a second aside: this whole affair, the conspiracy uncovered and the recent breaches in journalistic ethics? Incredibly small potatoes.

Ben Kuchera SHOULD be fired for what he did to Brad Wardell. One of the most disturbing things I've seen in a long while
You obviously missed the plethra of beheading videos we have had recently then.

OT: I have too much to worry about in my life to worry about, and work too long hours to put my free time into something like this. But it's a nice idea.

I'll continue to fight to keep Brits the right to treat eachother how they want.

@thaluikhain: Funnily enough, I could see Batman reacting like that... despite everything [http://www.dorkly.com/post/55743/batmans-tragic-origin].

Like that Alanis Morrissette song about irony whose lyrics aren't ironic. Which is ironic. :)
Mr Dobolina, Mr. Bob Dobolina, won't you quit you really make me sick with your fraudulent behaviour. ( sorry I couldn't resist, you must get that a lot....)

A serious look at why it's not ironic
( again I couldn't resist... )

I do hear that Rock,Paper,Shotgun, and Polygon have tons of "SJWs" but I don't visit very often so I don't know if that's true or exagerration on the part of their opponents.
Yeah but to verify that you'd have to participate at Rock, Paper, Shotgun and Polygon.

Better it be left a mystery.

Don't be silly, there are no social justice peeps on Breitbart. Or at least I would assume so given the type of rhetoric on that website.
Breitbart reported something that favoured Anita Sarkeesian. Of course it's a SJW site. The fact that it was true is completely irrelevant. 4Chan has also been accused of SJWing because they're sick of GamerGate sucking the place up or something. that's your problem. You're not seeing SJWs everywhere, conspiring, because you aren't paranoid enough.

Tell you what. Watch Loose Change while staring angrily at a picture of Zoë Quinn for eight hours. I guarantee, the world will seem more full of SJWs.

If you sit there, have a think, realise that you are generally pretty cool with inclusion and diversity, and say "hell, I guess that makes me a SJW!", then you're wrong. That makes you a decent stand-up human being.

SJWs are people who actively try to tear down everything men know and love, who would sooner see the media and hobby in ruins just to further their own agenda or get smug self satisfaction. Therefore, they don't exist.
I'm confused. People keep calling me a SJW. Does that mean I don't exist?

I'm very pro-GG and I find your reasoning/semantics very odd.

Why would you consider GG to be "smoke screen" for attacks on ZQ, as opposed to GG sparking off because ZQ (and her friends/ideological allies in the press) pissed off alot of people, very fast. I mean, torpedo-ing charities because it competes with your paypal scam and raiding suicidal depressives to get your game greenlighted? Come on now, let's be reasonable.

Maybe this whole thread has gone off in the wrong direction, perhaps the OP is honestly looking for a gaming SJW for long walks, candlelight dinners, and pina colada's. Must have a GSOH , own car & at least some of their own teeth? GCH & double glazing optional ( or is that houses? )

/me runs off to register sjwdating.com

SJW is a label applied to others, not something people self identify with.
^ This. It's a would-be-derogatory term that came about as part of an attempt to group, diminish and attack people with differing views, hence the general sense of negativity to the term.

Since my other thread didn't really take off the way I wanted I guess I will try something more simple.

That being, where are all the SJWs who like gaming? And I don't mean the fly by night trollers or the well beaten strawmen, I mean people who are like, legit concerned about what they say and what they believe in. But also who happen to play video games.

Anyway, I only know of one solid community. ... that is it really.

Am I missing something? With all this talk of SJWs of late I would think there would be more organized cabals or some such here-bouts out there somewhere. With all this identity politics flown about I'd figure I group with my own kind, but even so, I don't even know where to look.

I tried searching on Google, and all I got was a mess of links related to decrying social justice or feminism anything. Can anyone help me?
So an SJW community with gaming at it's forefront? Well the only thing I could guess at, off the top of my head, would be Kotaku. There are plenty that hate gaming and gamers, although I don't think they're that hard to find.

Edit: this is of course going by the definition of SJW meaning someone who overreacts at everything, plays professional victim, and spins things to their self-righteous constantly insulted world-view of "duh patriarchy". If the following does not describe you, then I do not consider you an SJW.

As a more moderate member of #GG, who often don't care what (in my terms) SJW go on about and is for the most part not concerned about SJW...

To me, SJW is someone who gets offended by the slightest amount of thing and will go on the internet in pure anger and tries to change how a game is when they have no right to change that game beyond "I just won't buy it." Which is fine.

For example: The backlash against Dragon Crown's art by that one Kotaku guy (Schrier I think), or lately the attack on Tropico 5 by Polygon and it getting a bad review simply because it offended the reviewer (which should have zero effect on grade and just be a side note by the reviewer).

I guess to me, a SJW in gaming I can't agree with is someone who thinks existing games should be shamed/changed simply for existing, rather than focusing on promoting and encouraging more games that appeal to their sensitivities. They are crass and rude and attack people who disagree with their viewpoints or simply ban/censor/shut out the conversation (the community manager for MN9 for example)

Video games' greatest strength is its ability to be diverse, why should we diminish that?
