No-one stands a chance of winning the war, because of Grimdark.

Anyway, when were you under the impression that Elfdar were anything other than a complete set of bastards. They literally raped a hole in the fabric of reality (the Dark Elfdar are the ones who didn't stop the party which did this), and they only care about themselves in as far as it allows them to prolong their doomed species of complete assholes a few more years.

This thread is now under superstition of heresy, for not advertizing enough Inquisitorial troops.

It's got to be the space marines! But not just any marines, I'm talking during the Horus Heresy where brother turned on brother and legion fought legion. This was when the legions were at their peak all having hundreds of thousands of brothers in their legion and battles were of colossal proportions. Got to say my favorite legion is the Luna Wolves (albeit they are now a traitorous legion after Horus' fall :p) because of the Mournival and because of the members of it. Strongly suggest reading the Horus Heresy books, as they will describe everything in massive detail.

Oh no, they're as big of assholes as the rest of the galaxy, but they at least tend to look out for each other. That's more than most of the other races can say. Humans kill themselves all the time, and usually by the millions. Granted, the Astronomican is kind of required for Warp travel, but they purge way too many of their own people.

Also, no one stands a chance at winning the war, because then Games Workshop would have to come up with something else.

the imperial guard make the most interesting reading for sure, ghosts series is probably the best in the black library. and space marines are balls out cool I played them table-top and DoW (always felt like cheating tbh, esp with the grey knights).
but if I had to side with a faction it would be as part of the Ordo Malleus inquistor

Inquisitor Lord Hephaestos Grudd, addressing Colonel Molian of the 223rd Gudrunrite Rifles
"Look upon this hammer I hold before me, for it is far more than a weapon. It is a symbol of the Imperial justice that smites the diabolic enemies of the Imperium wherever they are found, just as I. Though it has banished even a mighty Greater Daemon to the hell from which it was spawned, it remains true and pure, just as I. Furthermore, it is a symbol of my order and my office, of the authority granted to me by the divine will of the Emperor. By that authority, I am commanding you and your entire regiment to obey me without question or hesitation. Advance, or it will not be daemonic blood that stains my hammer this day."

Codex: Daemonhunters (3rd Edition), p. 22
Sandy mitchells Ciaphus Cain series are pretty good too

Still better than most other factions. At least the Tau give conform as an option.

Tyranids. Was soo glad they got included into the game universe. I just love the way they pour in and swarm all under one single hive mind. You run out of bullets before they die (not really), but yes. As a huge Alien fan (just ordered my Burstday shirt from SplitReason), the tyranids come very close to looking like them. Favourite paint scheme for them was the Kraken. The space marines dont come far behind.

SPESS MEHRENS!!!

Why? Because Space Marines. That's why. So what if they're fanatically religious and ridiculously macho. That is of less than no consequence. They need no explanation any more than a gun that shoots guns that shoot missiles needs an explanation.

They just are, and that is enough. Plus their quotes contain the most awesome.

PS: Never played the tabletop games, am a fan of the DoW games, love the background.

SPESS MEHRENS!!!

Chaos Daemons, gotta love being the ultimate bad guy in the galaxy; watching people brick it when Soul Grinders are put on the table is also very fun.

With the new release of Spearhead though, I'm beginning to fall in love with the plucky Imperial Guard; full tank armies and now all the plastic Russ kits. My local GW will see a lot of tanks when I'm playing

Since my last post in here back in April, I have since started a new army.
I love how they can be adapted to fit any play style and upgraded to destroy any opponent.
Oh, and the Choas Marines thought they're Daemon Princes were scary, They can align with a Daemon army/God, get more firepower, and taken as a Heavy Support. So 2 HQs can still be taken. Unless you have a Herald. Then you can have up to 4 HQs.

Chaos Marines, more specifically the Alpha Legion and Thousand Sons. They have/had the best intentions but screwed up on a truly epic scale. The tragedy of it all just resonates with me :)

According to the Horus Heresy series at least, not quite sure if it is canon or not.
