The Adeptus Mechanicus, praise the Omnissiah, the flesh is weak and so on.
Additionally there have been signs of thier Machine God actually is the C'tan Void Dragon in wich case I would be turned in to a necron.

Necron is infact my second choise.

Ranged firepower is my style, so the Tau. Got a small tabletop tau cadre, and am pondering going Farsight enclave, a renegade faction without kroot and vespid that doesn't take orders from ethereals.

the Raven Guard are the coolest Imperial faction though IMO. They focus on coordinated surgical strikes and stealth while their primarch, Corax, has a interesting backstory. http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Corax

Hmmmm Space Marines as always. Cannot beat superhumans with superweapons and giant ships.
Second would be Necrons. Now cmon, robots are awesome. These fire blasts that split you apart atom by atom, they rock

I do love the idea of a sneeky Space Marine... with... jet turbines... strapped to his shoulders...

I'm starting to wonder if it's the Raven Guards awesome stealth skills, or that their enemies are all idiots.

I play: Daemonhunters (puritan), Space wolves, and Necrons. Out of those I have to say space wolves...but I have a fondness to the fluff of the Eldar, i mean it takes a serious party to spawn a god. Though I also enjoy the Imperial Guard...I like 40k fluff alot

I tend to prefer highly advanced units with smaller overall numbers as opposed to 'swarming' tactics, so Eldar. Autarchs, Banshees, Dire Avengers... How can you not like the style?

Tau. They just seem to be the most interesting of the factions, to me atleast. Not to mention they have the coolest hypocritical catchphrase of them all. "For the Greater Good!" they shout as they kill thousands of enemies.

Not to mention-

I can't fully decide who I like best. They all have interesting units, tactics, philosophies, histories, agendas, it's so hard to choose! Some of my favourites though would be;

Tau; For the advanced tech and their philosophies on how to wage purely ranged warfare. I love that idea.

Necrons; For essentially being unstoppable, Terminator-like death machines. I played them a lot in Dark Crusade.

Imperial Guard; For the tanks basically. Basilisks and Baneblades are amazingly powerful.

Orks; Because they're just fun and make me laugh. Who doesn't injoy a shotting DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA while firing a million bullets at the enemy horde?

Harlequins; Of all the Eldar, these guys are the best. Seriously, go read about them if you don't know them and then tell me they aren't badass.

Tyannids; I don't know much about them, other than they could potentialy be the biggest threat in all of the 40K verse, and I respect that fact. From a safe distance, of course...

Tzeentch is the lord of change, the Blood God is Khorne.

It's hard to pick just one. The Guard are a bunch of badasses, with special respect to Commisars Cain and Yarrick and the tactical genius of Usarkar E. Creed. The Space Wolves also kick massive amounts of ass.

And I like the Tau, because they're the only faction that even seems to know what it's doing anymore. Plus, they're sort of the nicest guys around. Sure, sterilization, concentration camps, and space communism may happen at times, but that's not that bad compared to what the other factions do to people. Besides, they're an overall morally competent race thrust into a universe of depravity, and they have to adapt somehow. Anyhow, they have giant robots and are pretty awesome. Also, Kroot FTW.

Too bad they an all their idealism are probably going to be eaten by 'nids.

Ive only played the Dawn of War games, but I'm all about the Tau. Ranged is my thing, I love there technology, the lack of access to the warp is very interesting in that universe, and they are probably the closest thing to a group of good guys that 40k has.

Oh, can anyone numerically list the Horus Heresy series? I can't figure out which is the bloody second in the series.
1. Horus Rising
2. False Gods
3. Galaxy in Flames
4. Flight of the Eisenstein
5. Fulgrim
6. Descent of Angels
7. Legion
8. Battle for the Abyss
9. Mechanicum
10. Tales of Heresy
11. Fallen Angels
12. A Thousand Sons
13. Nemesis
14. The First Heretic
15. Prospero Burns

Did that from memory.
... There really is no hope for me. -.-

-EDIT-

Forgot to respond to the actual topic at hand...

Even though the Imperium has some pretty interesting factions, my allegiance is to Chaos, specifically the Death Guard legion of CSMs. These guys are the very embodiment of both inevitable decay and unbreakable resilience. Slow but nigh-unstoppable, and not confined to means of warfare armor can protect against.

I started with Tau. Loved them, but was seduced by Chaos (probably that damned Slaanesh!). I more of a Chaos Undivided supporter, but if I had to choose one particular legion of Chaos it would be the Iron Warriors. Always loved them, but the idea of making them look like Iron Warriors was daunting.

So far in the Heresy series I've rather enjoyed "Fulgrim", maybe I have some joy in watching the legion trying it's best to be perfection fall so fall and hard into darkness strikes me as interesting.

Sucks that I have to wait until the Siege of the Emperor's Palace to get a Blood Angels novel. But I do like Sanguinius's small cameos so far. Especially Horus admitting that Sanguinius should've been chosen as Warmaster instead of him! :D

The guy Shoryuken's an Eldar Avatar of Khaine to death! Gotta respect that!
