I've seen this thread before, but it's always fun to listen to the soundtracks people provide links for.

Eeeeeeeeer...
I'm too lazy to look up all five.
But.
I have to say my favorite has to be Test Drive 5...
That game turned me onto so much awesome music, and I played it first when I was like five...

Pitchshifter
Gravity Kills
Fear Factory
and best of all, KMFDM...

fuckin' awesome.

Guilty Gear
No More Heroes 1 and 2
FF X
Persona 3 & 4
Silent Hill 2 and on
I'll explain. I chose Guilty Gear because the soundtrack is totally fucking awesome, I mean, come on:

NMH 1 and 2, because the soundtrack is incredibly appropriate while fighting a crazy Sweet Lolita and a Gothic Lolita, respectively:

FF X, because this is how doing something new should be, as in not like a shitty Shin Megami Tensei ripoff:
And Persona 3 and 4, because they manage to have an awesome soundtrack, despite being a franchise of JRPGs
Mass Destruction still kinda sucks though.
And the Silent Hill series, for having the Major from Ghost In The Shell sing:

Most of mine will be fairly recent since, let's face it, musical quality has greatly improved as the technology improved allowing full-fledged tracks to make it into games. So:

1. Red Dead Redemption. The score really sets the tone and the tracks "Far Away" and "Deadman's Gun" are just so emotionally charged, they make a strong impression.

2. Mass Effect. The electronic beats and minimalist tones really bring the space opera to life.

3. Assassin's Creed 2. Unlike the first two examples, Jesper Kyd's score doesn't immediately conjure images of the setting. But it brings an ethereal, otherworldly quality to the game that matches some of its themes.

4. Ecco the Dolphin: Tides of Time. This is my sole exception to the recent game rule. Even in a lesser format, the tracks are catchy and memorable. I haven't played this game since the 90s, but I still remember the songs. That says something.

5. Dragon Age: Origins. Fantasy scores tend to sound like generic orchestral arrangements or rip offs of Lord of the Rings. But Inon Zur brought a unique touch to this score. There's an interplay of moody melodies and hopeful vocals that really show the interplay of dark and light present in the game.

Order could easily change but these all fit in some where

FF4,It has some great boss themes and fun tracks.

FF6, Same reasons though some tracks overstay there welcome. It still has the best boss theme ever: The Decisive Battle

Persona 4: Some tacks are hit and miss but for the most part everything works especially the creepy Who's There and the excellent battle theme.

Persona 3:It's just really fucking good and contains probably one of the few rap songs I really like and Burn my Dread is awesome too.

Majora's Mask: Really I could my whole top five anything Koji Kondo does but Majora's mask is just damned awesome. The darker tones help compliment the games atmosphere and Clock Town's theme is m y absolute favorite town theme ever.

In no particular order:

-Deus Ex
-System Shock 2
-Bioshock
-Fallout 3
-Modern Warfare 2

I like music that is immersive and epic-feeling. Whenever I hear the music in these games, it compliments them so well, I can't imagine having the music turned off. It helps make the scene and helps the world come alive in my mind. Modern Warfare is kinda my exception... it's just really well composed, and feels like a big budget movie score.
