And it comes with a nice black carpet for your house, no extra charge.

OT: My folks own two black lab mixes. Not entirely sure what they are mixed with since one was from a farm dog that got pregnant and the other was a rescue. However, if I could have a dog it would be some mix involving a boxer, rottweiler, and/or bullmastif. Never go purebred unless you want a show dog, they have the worst health imaginable.

American Pit Bull Terriers are my absolute favourite.

But right now me and my girlfriend own a German Shorthaired Pointer, and he's incredible.

But I have a soft spot for many kinds of dogs. Corgi's, Basenji's, Greyhounds.

I also just discovered Italian Greyhounds, which are adorable and amazing.

It's a tiny greyhound!

My Family owns THREE, yes, THREE Shih-Tzus. They bark... AT EVERYTHING.

Not sure what pet I'd prefer, just know that three small dogs suck so much.

Samoyeds, hands down.
I've had two over the years (Not at the same time) and they were just the best dogs.
When my wife and I get our first house, we'll be getting a Samoyed puppy.

Puppies!

I seriously think I just had an cuteness overload. Those pups were SO DAMN CUTE. I just wanna cuddle them! :)
They get pretty big don't they? Aren't they a medium or large sized breed?

They do get fairly big, yeah. I think they qualify as a medium sized breed, though.
Here is what wikipedia says on size:
Size:
Males typically weigh between 20-32.5 kg (55-71 lbs) and stand at a height of 54-60 cm (21-24 in)
Females typically weigh 17-25 kg(40-55 lbs) and stand at a height of 50-56 cm (19-22 in).
So they aren't huge, but they aren't small either.
I had two males, and they were a decent size.
Fantastic dogs, though. Great with kids, easy to train, faithful to no end...just awesome.

Grand as you are making that sound it really isn't. For some reason my dog doesn't seem to fear the natural enemy of every other dog (the vacuum cleaner).
So every time you wanna (are forced to) clean the house and he's busy doing his 'being a big black carpet' thing. You are going to run into him, and it will take quite a bit of..... stern talk to coerce him to cooperate with you.

(last week I was actually vacuum cleaning him and he cared so much that he promptly fell asleep)

I've got a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, hyper territorial at home but happy and pleasant to everyone when he's out and about.

I have a Lhasa Apse Poodle Mix, commonly known as a Lhasapoo. And he's the best dog in the world.

I've had a St. Bernard, two weimeraners, a Siberian husky, a cockapoo (well, he was my husband's dog, but I loved him), and now a mutt who is (we think) half golden lab and half whippet. She's a wonderful, wonderful pup. :)

I have an English Cocker Spaniel.

D'awwww! That's her. She's adorable, because that step is her step, and if I sit down there she comes and sits on my lap so I can stroke her.

She's a lovely dog, who always listens to me on walks. She's calm around the house but as soon as she steps out of the door, she goes mental and can play for hours with her toys and other dogs.

I love living in the country.

I've never had a dog, but I would want a German Shepherd/Alsation. Key reason is that my Dad was a dog handler in the RAF so I've grown up around photos and stories about how great they can be.

I want ethier a Newfoundlander or German Shepard. I like bigger dogs although this is unlikely to ever happen because i have a cat that hates dogs and a wife that loves beagles which i like to but i'd rather a big dog.

Pretty much any medium to big sized breed with as much proper dog-like characteristics as possible; proper snout, long tail, regular/long legs, you know the drill. Floppy ears are optional though. Oh and preferably no curly fur.

So think shepherds, border collies, labs, retrievers, huskies. You know, dogs that resemble wolves at least reasonably well, including mutts.

But in the end it's the personality that really matters. I'd like mine to be really lazy and really crazy. It's a shame border collies usually aren't very lazy, nor do the thrive in an urban environment, or else I'd get one if I'd move out my parent's house. They're more than crazy enough though.

I envy you on so many levels, to have a cat the size of a medium sized dog. Main Coons wouldn't hunt your average sparrow, they'd bring rabbits and geese back home! Oh I'd love to have one of those prowling about.

Something as exotic looking as a whippet mixed with a lab? That's sounds so brilliantly crazy I must see a picture! Care to share one?
