My family had a doberman and a great big mixed breed when I was growing up. Sadly, they were both so ridiculously huge I could never do a thing with them, and they liked my parents better anyway.

These days, I've been really interested in getting an Australian cattle dog. They're not huge dogs, generally pretty smart, and they're just plain pretty.

D'awwww....

Oh, also... To all of those considering large dogs, I implore you: Please, please be careful with who you let walk them. Because, if the person is not large themselves, and the dog hears something they find interesting, they are very capable of dragging that person across the yard in a very cartoonish fashion.

Man, that hurt...

Samoyeds, hands down.
I've had two over the years (Not at the same time) and they were just the best dogs.
When my wife and I get our first house, we'll be getting a Samoyed puppy.

Puppies!

Full grown!
Daaawww :) my friend has that breed.

I want a Pitt Bull. It's the perfect breed for me. I know they get a bad reputation but they're a great breed and a great dog.

and now a mutt who is (we think) half golden lab and half whippet. She's a wonderful, wonderful pup. :)
Something as exotic looking as a whippet mixed with a lab? That's sounds so brilliantly crazy I must see a picture! Care to share one?
Here ya go:

My family owns a dachshund plantation. Every other branching family has or had a dachshund. My branch has 3, so far.

This picture is very similar to my reaction when I saw that photo:

She looks ADORABLE!!! I was expecting the weird whippet legs with a lab's head, but the result is much more elegant (and less Frankenstein-ish) than that. Her face reminds me of a whippet. How old is she anyway? Is that the max size she'll get?

I have a pure-bred Johnson breed American bulldog. They are usually crazy exspensive, but i saved mine from abuse. I got him when he was 2 months old. That was 8 years ago. Wow where does the time go? Any way if you don't know American bulldogs are pretty big dogs. Mine ways about 160ish pounds and he's about 5'7 on his hind legs.

I have got a border colly/spaniel mix. The cleverest and daftest dog ever.
She understands most of what you say, like it has never been taught to her what a road is, or pavement but you can tell her to get off/get on either. She'll also come and get you if she needs something, she stamps her front paws when you say the right word for what she needs. She's daft though because she'll be randomly walking along and just flop to the ground and start rolling around because she can. If you drop to your haunches to stroke her she'll try and gently nudge you over and then bugger off and sit down.

I see alot of people wanting huskies, from what i'm told they're hard to train as a house pet. I think if i was to get another dog after willow (mine) i'd probably get another border colly because of how clever they are, or a doberman.

Only dog I've ever had was a basset hound. Great dog but damn there was no stopping his smell. At most we could make him smell pleasant for 2 days. Fun dog though...smart but thick headed. Plus, they are so adorable as puppies with all the body parts being such bizarre lengths.

She's fills your head with awesome when you look at her.
Boxers are indeed awesome! Mine is sitting next to me wagging whilst I type. And now she's barking. OK, outside time, Lily!

these are my 2 cavalier king charles spaniels

and i really want a bernese mountain dog

i really like huskies but they are so instinctive and full of energy, some owners just buy them, dont give them the massive amount of exercise they need and then wonder why they are badly behaved

She just turned 3, so yep, that's as big as she's gonna get. About 37 pounds or so, so we can still pick her up...and do, often. :D
