If you own both a 360 and a PS3 and you purchase a multiplatform game which system do you typically choose?

I personally go for 360 as I have had it way before I got a PS3. I just liked keeping things consistent. I notice some games might have better specs and less bugs on one system over the other. Even if that is the case I still get the game for 360 as it is usually something trivial. Therefore my PS3 collects a lot of dust in between exclusive games. I use it for PS1 games which I still occasionally play.

EDIT: I should of also included PC. Sorry about that.

Xbox 360, mainly because it came out before the PS3, therefore my profile with more stuff is on the 360, and so on. Plus it helps that apparently (going by what people have said here anyway) most multi-platform games are developed on the Xbox 360, so there's less chance (ideally) of bugs, glitches etc.

Before my X-Box kicked the bucket, it's what I would choose for multi-platform titles. I hate the feel of PS3 controllers, and I have significantly more friends who play X-Box games online. I mostly bought the PS3 because (at the time) it was one of the cheapest Blu-Ray players on the market, and I wanted access to both platforms' exclusives.

I never bothered to get my X-Box repaired since (at the time) World of WarCraft was busy consuming my soul, so it's been bricked since 2008. I still buy the occasional exclusive from time to time for the PS3, but mostly I just use it for Blu-Rays and Netflix since building a gaming PC.

My 360 (I own a PS3 and a PC)

I much prefer the controller over the PS3 controller (and I've never liked mouse/keyboard unless it was a RTS). I certainly like my PS3 for it's exclusives (not to mention a blu-ray player) but if I get a choice, my 360 wins.

Plus: ACHIEVEMENTS!!!!!

PC gamer here, I used to play shadowrun (I think that was multiplatform) on the 360 and to this day I will label that part of my gaming career as "the dark years" so much lag from using that piece of shit wireless adapter thing. *shudders*

I had to decide between a PS3 and a 360. I went with the PS3. It gives me access to Japanese games that I wouldn't otherwise be able to play on PC, which is my other platform.

Similar to myself.
Most things on the 360 I can get on PC instead and more than likely have it run smoother and look better. But because I'm a massive weaboo ****** (I don't mean this to be insulting to you or anyone else, it's just a term me and a friend use) and love my crazy Japanese games I've played PS3 a lot more since I got it.

Which console I play on? Well, easy, PS3: it's the only current gen console that I own. Choosing it over the 360 a few years ago is a story all its own but let's just say that Wi-Fi and free online service had a lot to do with it.

It's a shame you're only asking about consoles. PCs are legitimate gaming machines and I prefer them for many types of games compared to my PS3, even if the latter is getting more attention these days thanks to the trophy hunting machine.

Xbox 360 for Halo 4 and PC for the rest of my gaming. Halo is the only reason I still use my Xbox 360 and buy Gold.

I almost exclusively buy multiplat games for the PC and use the PS3 for it's exclusives. Our 360 largely gathers dust unless we're buying a multiplat game that doesn't have a PC release, as they tend to run better on the 360.

Since our TV broke, the main console my family has been using to play video games is the WiiU. Until we get a new one, it'll be our main console. The other console we play is the Xbox 360. We have a PS3, but it's really only a glorified Blu-Ray player.

PC preferred when possible, a more consistent framerate and larger selection of control options are nice.

Xbox preferred if I have to play on console for whatever reason. My Xbox runs a lot smoother and quieter than my PS3, I had it first so I have more achievements on it and I vastly prefer the controller over the PS3's dualshock.

PS3 for the handful of exclusives it has (many of which are awesome)... but it sees more action as a bluray player than a game console at this point. Hell my PS2 still gets used more than my PS3, which is kinda sad to think my PS3 will be boxed up and stored away long before my PS2 is haha.

I get it on 360. I love my playstation, really do, but the 360 game pad is better along with a better ui(yeah, I know. Everyone hates metro, but it's miles ahead of xrossmediabar). Also, I have way more friends who play Xbox. So if its coop(I don't generally play competitive multiplayer) I have set companions ready for some jolly cooperation(also, they're really good for the most part. Some of them can carry me if I'm sucking at a particular game[thanks Helen, Ross, Sean...]). Another reason is that the ps3 has been shafted on several third party games, getting inferior versions(Skyrim), and in shooters with a game pad I like to have triggers, and some ps3 games map shooting to r1. It just doesn't feel right. It's like I'm gonna throw a grenade or something.

I have a gaming PC where I play 90% of my games, but I keep my old 360 around for games I just can't get on PC like Forza or Red Dead.

I just play all my games on the PC, with the exception of Guitar Hero and such that I play on my PS2. Never bought into this console generation, which was a good move in the end. Not entirely sure why only the PS3 and 360 are listed, as other consoles do exist even if you are trying to avoid the obvious PC answer many will give - for example the WiiU, or the PS2 like I use.

Never owned an Xbox, and I am likely to never do so. I do not think Microsoft is evil, just. . . moribund. They are largely resposible for intentionally guiding the market into the direction of the shooter, so I am not going to forgive them any time soon.

That said I only really use my PS3 for PSone Classics and the odd exclusive/not available on PC game. So, Playstation has gone downhill as well.

I have a PS3/PC/Wii and aside from exclusives I pick whatever the game feels better with a controller or M&K. If I had to choose between 360 and PS3 I'd choose PS3 unless the 360 version runs better, the 360 controller is just uncomfortable.

PS3 mostly. I have Xbox as well but only worthwhile game I have for that platform is L4D. I have couple of halo games as well, though I'm not a fan of them.
