Goddamn it, Daystar's on my ignore list without my permission. I didn't want that. So I'll just post what I was gonna say to him here, since I can't quote him:

I agree, tin cases are always awesome. But, I like my game cases to be very much like eachother, so unless a console comes out with only tin cases I'll probably not buy them. I got Bioshock in the tin case and it just stood out so much when compared to my other games. Same with New Super Mario Bros Wii and 2, they're red and gold respectively. They just don't look nice to me when put in with my other, white wii and 3ds boxes.
You should be able to edit your ignore list in your profile.

Isn't there an option to remove someone? I've never ignored someone so I don't know for sure.

I really like the special edition tin cases :D

Shame a lot more games don't use them, but I suppose they're more expensive to make.
Right up there with you man. That's why I'm glad that I pre-orderd Assassin's Creed 3 and the Limited Edition of Halo 4, because now they're both coming in one.

I'm finding the Vita cases to be awesome.
They're really practical and quite sturdy too, the games also come out nice and safely with no chance of damage.
Overall just well designed, only other that comes close is the PS2 case.

Best: Pal Dreamcast jewel cases

They may be a little flimsy, and easy to break, but by Jove they look goddamn sexy. Especially on a shelve.

The Neo-Geo cases look mighty fine as well. I could see those looking great on one's shelve if anyone had the money for the overpriced games that is.

Worse: Pal Sega Saturn cardboard cases

These look tacky and horrible. They are also easy to batter and scratch, and are hard to keep in a good condition. At least the dreamcast cases are easily replaceable, not such luck with these.

At least the EA games like Need for Speed, and later games like Panzer Dragoon Saga came in a much decent VHS style plastic case like how the Mega Drive/Genesis cases were like.

Also, the 3DO longboxes are ridiculously long, and unless you have huge shelve, they don't fit at all. I Much prefer those jewel cases for that system. Them CD-I cases are ridiculous as well, as you have to open some of them upwards, which doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

I like the standard case, PS2, Gamecube, the non-environmentally friend Wii and 360 games etc. My least favorite would be boxes or the CD cases PS1 games came in that always would crack and break.

I also like the DS cases as decoration. It's a huge case for a tiny game so I tape the case on the wall and keep the carts in a box (which makes it a lot easier to travel).

Best, Main consoles. They all have the same case and it opens so easily.

Worst, DS. the case on these is a pain to open, especially if you have big hands.

Ps2. They have a slot for the memory cards . Pretty awsome . And it gives proper protection . The worst are the first ps1 cases . You remember the giant ass plastic/glass cases that would shatter under any pressure . The smaller ones were a little better but i mean the giant ones.
Do you mean those Jewel cases?
I have broken more then I can count.

Best case would probably be the newer PS2/Xbox dvd cases but not those ones with the damned latches I hate those with a passion.

The N64 boxes are pretty bad as they are made out of cardboard.

I too, love the 3DS boxes.
Gotta agree with you there on the N64 boxes. They look great, but they get ruined too easily.

My favorite game case is probably the Fallout 3: Collector's Edition case, but I suppose that doesn't really count, haha. The best ones are probably PS2 cases or DS cases.

Best- DS or GC. Yes they are plastic like any other game cases but I like the fact they had that holder/ slot thing to store you memory card (GC) or the game cartridges (DS) into so you can't exactly lost the game unless you loost the game case itself!

Worse- Pretty much the GBA or pretty much the cardboards cases since they're not durable compared to the plastic case and they degrade overtime so they loose their values.

My favorites are SNES (fits well with VHS) and PS2/360 Cases (Fits well with DvD,Blue rays, etc.) everything else insist on having odd sizing and don't fit well with others

I'm going for the Snes. It had in my opinion the best library overall and my all time favourite game, Yoshis Island. My answer bear little weight though, since I've owned a total of three consoles throughout my life. A Snes, a DSi and a Vita.

For worst, I cannot answer since I've had so little experience with consoles, I almost exclusively play on my PC, if it is in reach that is.

Best for functionality I'd say are the PS2 cases because they're essentially just good DVD cases. They're thin, they protect the disc, a few of them even had memory card holders and they're fairly durable.

I rate cardboard cases as worst in general. I've got a few gameboy game boxes that aren't too shabby but the case I've got for Sonic & Knuckles on the Mega Drive is a complete wreck. The inlay has fallen apart and the outer box has almost collapsed in on itself.

I think I'll go with the Dreamcast and Playstation 1 jewel case things as the best. I just think they look somewhat elegant and are nice and small, easy to store. Though I am aware of their fragile nature. I do have a couple cracked Playstation cases.

Worst? Probably those cheap, flimsy boxes that GBA games came in. Those things are so easily destroyed. All they are, are cardboard! That's almost as bad as wrapping your game in paper! Just not a good way to package those little black games.

Because VHS > DVD
Do you mind if I ask you why? I personally have an odd affinity for VHS quality, but I have never met another person who liked VHS more than Dvd.

So were the the GBA, GBC, GB, VB, SNES and NES boxes. I think they had cardboard inserts that helped fortify the boxes and hold the carts in place but they just didn't really last long if you weren't really careful with them. So for the worst cases it's a blanket statement pointing at every Nintendo console before the DS and Gamecube.

Eh, nostalgia mostly. Few movies (Like the original starwars trilogy) just seem to belong to that-nowdays-ever-so-blurry-looking quality. Kinda for the same reason why TV still runs at 30fps eventhough other video mediums have evolved past that.

Cases on the other hand... Thats a different story. VHS cases are just so manly! A grunt like me doesnt need to try and push my fingers into the little things on the sides of a dvd case, on VHS you can grab it however and just pull with your thumbs. They can also almost fit a DVD case which is manly. Also when I was little, I built buildings for my actionfigures by arranging VHS cases vertically and horizantally to make walls and ceilings and... Nevermind
