Anyway cosplay is usually horrible, one of the worst crimes against fashion and indeed nature. I would just go in my normal clothes and say I'm a generic NPC.

You've never been to a fancy dress party? I have no idea what cosplay is, but a fancy dress party you are you, you don't role play, you just dress up usually to a theme, drink lots, listen to music, dance if you like ya know... a party.

The last one I went to was a Christmas party for work and it was a film theme so I went as Donnie Darko (the hoody and skeleton costume), as I look a lot like him and couldn't find an evil bunny suit.

Well, I did dress up as the Scout (Red team, what else?) for last Halloween and that was fun (every New Yorker that day backed the hell away from this bat-wielding running screaming nutter that day.). And yes, I stayed in character all day, never dropping my bad Brooklyn accent or going anything slower than a run.

This Halloween me and my older bro are going to be Ghostbusters. We're making the packs ourselves and hopefully will be done before Halloween. My brother originally wanted to make the Slime Blower for himself, but the way he planed to make the main tank (w/ a really big bit of PVC pipe), it would end up being over 60 lbs. I keep telling him that there's a much easier & lighter way to do it but we'll have to wait and see if he'll listen.

It'd take a lot of effort given that his height and proportions are so different to mine, but I'd go as the Arbiter from Halo 2,3 because he's just that good.

Me and my bro won't be able to do anything as nifty as that because:
1.)Don't have enough money
2.)Either have no skill in or not enough skill in electrical work

But if I do ever get a whole shit load of money, I might just buy a authentic replica.
