Ninja'd with Mass Effect 2. Definitely the best game I've ever played.
I agree with both you and the OP. Someone also already said Portal, so I will have to go with Sly Cooper. The first one, that is. The others, while good, had their obvious flaws, but other than being too short, Thievius Racoonus was practically the perfect platformer.

Metroid Prime, I can't think of anything wrong with it except not being able to free aim.

Honestly? Psychonauts.

It's delightful, challenging and has an amazing story line to fall in love with.

For me, it would have to be Max Payne 1. The action, story, graphic novel-like cutscenes, and one of the few games to do bullet time good. The game was just fun and amazing to me.

Honestly speaking, none of them.
No game comes close to being perfect.
Maybe because I place a lot of weight on powerful words like 'perfect'.

My idea of a perfect game would be one that has significant replay value and that never really gets old.

So, I'm gonna have to say either Tetris or Portal. Tetris still feels different every time, simple and has just about endless replay value. Portal bridges gameplay and exposition almost perfectly. Not to mention there's a lot of ways to complete each puzzle and ability to just have fun.

So far, I haven't gotten tired of Portal or Tetris either.

I'm probably going to open myself up for mockery and scorn from the FFVII fanboys when I say Final Fantasy VIII. Probably my favourite game of all time. Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo runs it close though.

TIE Fighter Collectors Edition. It was the only game where I lost in the first mission 3 times and still loved every second of it.

Little Big Adventure.

Seriously I keep feeling like a broken record when I say this. The controls aren't perfect and the english voice acting is atrocious, but aside from that, everything about it is good, it's efficent, it'll run on fucking anything, it looks good, it's quirky, it's difficult, it's entertaining and it's full of memorable, stand-out characters.
Wow I didn't know of anyone else that mentions this game... it's fun and yes, ran on just about everything. I wish I could get a copy of it thta works nowadays though...

That's easy.

Halo 3 Multiplayer.

I wouldn't say the campaign was perfect, or rate Halo 2 highly and my experience of the Halo: Reach beta has left me dismayed... Bungie don't seem to understand what made Halo so wonderful, with infinite replayability and variety of unique incident in each match.

Close to perfection:
Fallout 3
GTA:SA
Knights of the Old Republic I and II (I is closer than 2)

And in my personal opinion perfect games:
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
Baldur's Gate 2

Depending on the system.. NES-Dragon Warrior, SNES-FF2, N64-Golden Eye, Sega Master System-Phantasy Star, Sega Genesis-Shinobi 3, Sega Dreamcast- Soul Reaver 2, Xbox-Fable, Xbox360-Mass Effect 1 and 2, PlayStation-FF7, PS2-God of war, PS3-Oblivion. Not bothering to name handhelds, but the hard question for me is best PC game... Might have to say Diablo 2 that or old Sierra game: Kings Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, or the first Gabriel Knight.
