probably anachronox, way back in the day, even though it was never finished. it was elatively perfect, for me at least.

Metroid Prime, I can't think of anything wrong with it except not being able to free aim.
Finally, after five pages someone finally mentions this!

I literally can not find fault with the game, other than the Gamecube controls. Of course, the Trilogy version fixes this, so it is now a perfect game in my eyes.
yes, but when it first came out.

I'm not too fond of the controls in Corruption, still it's a good game. I haven't played Trilogy because I already have the other two still.

That's easy.

Halo 3 Multiplayer.

I wouldn't say the campaign was perfect, or rate Halo 2 highly and my experience of the Halo: Reach beta has left me dismayed... Bungie don't seem to understand what made Halo so wonderful, with infinite replayability and variety of unique incident in each match.
Wait, so the game can skimp out and be called perfect if you ignore the existence of the campaign? That's half the game.

well, lack of creativity doesn't make a bad game, but then the rest should be done damn good.
creative designs make everything seem much better. thus, coming closer to perfection.

The weapons and dialogue were creative, though. The enemies were the only truly 'bland' element in the game for me. (ETA: and there was nothing actually 'wrong' with any of the enemies: most of them were simply not tremendously engaging. A few were more interesting, though.)

Seems like the movement thing is a personal preference more than anything else. It happens, I suppose (I often can barely stand first-person cameras, for example).

Legond of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

I loved it, absolutely loved it.
My favorite game of all time, I can play through it over and over and not get bored.

A perfect game in my mind.

TIE Fighter Collectors Edition. It was the only game where I lost in the first mission 3 times and still loved every second of it.
Oh my God, TIE Fighter. I only played that game for one day (and didn't really get anywhere) and it was still awesome.

I say Portal. If we're going for perfect as in flawless, I may as well include Half-life 2 and its episodes, except for the fact that it's not finished. So, Portal, then.

My definition of a perfect game is one in which there is nothing left to add to make it better. I challenge someone to find something to add to tetris to make it better.

perfect is a point of view, but I would say these games come to mind:

Zelda: Wind Waker
Half-Life 2 series/Portal
Diablo 2

I would say Half-Life 1 & 2, Portal, Okami, and the original Metal Gear Solid are close to perfect. Mass Effect 2 is pretty good as well, but it has problems just like every other game.

If I had to pick one I'd say Metal Gear Solid 1 is the game that is closest to perfect. I really can't think of anything bad about it. Sure, I could talk about the graphics or shooting mechanics, but they were the best around back in the day. Okami is also damn close, but it can get a little repetitive and it is not very challenging.

To be honest, I don't think any game will ever be "perfect." There are always things that can be changed or added to make it better (and I like it that way).

I second Portal.
Edit: Or like 54th portal or however many times it's been suggested because I totally didn't know this was 5 pages long >.>

Xenogears gets my vote. Can't think of a game that is more intellectual or thought provoking then this game.
