Final fantasy sadly.. I liked both 12 and 13, but I just feel the creativeness has faded and now more and more games are becoming more...path like, not like 3 which was VERY customizable...

Final Fantasy

Final Fantasy is that mangy old mongrel that's being kept around for some reason, maybe because it poops out money? It needs to either be seriously looked at or just killed off. There are lots of JRPGs that are doing it right Square, why can't you see this instead of stubbornly sticking to a long since dry formula?

Resident Evil

There are a lot of people who will say that this series was never good. Yes a good portion of the tension came from the poor camera angles (I can hear that zombie shuffling around but where it is!?) and yes part of why the first game's so memorable was the terrible voice acting. But like it or not Resident Evil pioneered Survival Horror onto consoles with tension and a sense of urgency and conservation.
This being said... anything that even slightly validated Resident Evil as survival horror is now absent and CAPCOM are simply running out of ways to limit the player. Just like Final Fantasy, it either needs an overhaul in gameplay from square one or just killing off so CAPCOM can get cracking on more Ace Attorney.

SPOILERS!

No Big Boss died of FOXDIE but Snake decides 'to live out his life peacefully', would have much rather he went out like the Boss did, for his country and I'm not even American but he deserved to die (Not in a bad way).

Every series from the past that's still profitable is going downhill the more accessible they make them to people unfamiliar with the franchise or particular genre they're in.

All in the name of increased sales, of course. It should be encouraged to have these people step it up a notch and actually LEARN to play a game they've never tried if they happen to like it... not make subsequent sequels more hollow and bereft of features or functions.

... Dude, did you even see Birth By Sleep? It's not a card battle game at all, you can mash basic attack until the cows come home, their calves leave, and then grow up into cows and come back home.

The term "Command Deck" refers to the special abilities like Strike Raid or Cure that you have equiped, each of which cooldown on their own.

I adored KH2 as much as you, but you have to admit being able to stick two Curagas into your menu so you can use one while the other recharges is better than how Cure is handled in KH2 (All your mana for one shot of the spell)

So, in closing, if you're going to call out a series call it out for LEGITIMATE reasons. Oh, and learn to spell or something. I went ahead and fixed your post for you, that'd be embarrising for someone 12 years old.

God of War.

Its just the same (pretty damn good) game over and over again but with better or worse (depending on PSP or PS3) graphics
So how does it go downhill when all of them are good games?

Any series that just never seems to end, and doesn't add/improve upon what it had:

Each of these has had a "HOLY SHIT THIS GAME IS AMAZING!" moment... but kept on going.
Same thing but worse. How does WoW doesnt add/improve, when it just did that with Cataclysm, and will probably do it again with the next expansion?

SPOILERS: He still only has like 1 year to live at best. Thats how he dies in a "good way", you know he will, you just dont have to watch it.

Now, to me a series went downhill when...well when it DID, like when theyre destroyed, when they became BAD games. CoD, MGS, GoW, WoW, Halo...what? Those arent even close.

Now Crash Bandicoot, or Spyro, or Sonic(not a fan so no idea if they "fixed" it with Sonic 4), they are. They got raped after the original developers left them.

Just because you dont like the direction a series is going, doesnt mean they are bad, when theyre still good games.

But hey im the stupid one since the topic does say "YOU think", so its free for all to everyone...or wait, this is what I think so never mind.:D

I don't think any series is going down hill per se. I think a lot of them are just stagnating, staying costant. They don't really change anything, Nintendo and Blizzard being a good example of it. It's all very well saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it" but well, I dunno about anyone else, I'm getting rather sick of seeing the same game over and over.

THQ WWE games.

I want to like them, but they never ever change gameplay. They all feel way too dated with only minor tweaks since Gamecube days.

WoW is an MMORPG, not a series, and does not need to change as much as regular games do. The expansions each bring plenty of change, anyways.

My opinion? The James Bond games.

Both examples listed in the original post are great examples IMO.

For Fable it's like Yahtzee said about trilogies, first they're learning what to do, second they do it better, third they got too cocky and messed it up. As I mentioned in another post, Fable 3 was overly simplified and I suspect Yahtzee may be on to something when says Molyneux simply doesn't get it.

Final Fantasy was good for a while, they usually had decent games and sometimes had really good games, but sometimes they not only missed the target, they shot themselves in the foot too. XIII, X and XIII were all pretty meh. On the other hand Tactics, IX and XII were pretty fun, I've heard they bombed XIV too though :O...

...maybe fable , I never played the first game, the second one was good ( apart from the ending ) , but I liked 3, and you could take part in the ending!

Nobody said anything about Silent Hill wich went downhill after second game. It has it's ups (SH3 Shattered Memories) and downs (everything else). But it's not going back to the top....

Call of Duty is basically up at the top. What was once an innovative and refreshing shooter has become as predictable as EA's yearly sports games.

I would say Metal Gear Solid, but I really want a remake of Metal Gear 1 and 2, so unless this next gen Metal Gear that isn't Rising is a sequel (one that really doesn't need to be made considering how 4 wrapped almost every strand of the story up) then that I still want.

Colin Mcrae Series. Become too much about energy drink fueled events and less about Rallying.

I'm the first to mention Silent Hill?

But yeah, Silent Hill. Even with the original team the series started to get a little shit with SH4, but after the franchise was shipped to another developer it turned really ugly.

Devil May Cry -.points to the newest one.- That's starting it
I'm surprised that I wasn't the first to say this.
It makes no chronological sense, the developers don't give a flying shit about Capcom's fans, it's stupid.
I understand. I've fan-raged all over the Capcom Unity forums, though given my delivery, it's more fan-bitter sarcasm.
Okay i am a pretty big fan of Devil May Cry also and i was annoyed when i heard the news about the new DmC game. But the game isn't out yet, none of you have played it and have no idea what it will be like. I for one am going to at least wait for it to be released and play it before i judge it. Perhaps you all should as well.
