Fear Effect (2 was a prequel), and Fear Effect 3: Inferno ended up being cancelled, making me a sad panda.

Another Eternal Darkness game would be great, too. Maybe not "spiritual successor-type" sequel but something worthy of the title.

I'd like to see a new Twisted Metal. Judging by what we've seen in current Burnout games, a graphically updated Twisted Metal could be, if nothing else, amazing to look at on the PS3. I'd also like to see third installment of the single-player, Knights of the Old Republic. I was greatly disappointed when they cancelled the Call of Cthluhu sequel too...

Games that need TRUE sequels:

Brave Fencer Musashi
Parasite Eve
Final Fantasy Tactics

Games I would love to see sequels for:

Valkyrie Profile (Hrist needs some love)
Chrono Cross
Vagrant Story
Legend of Dragoon
Rival Schools/Project Justice
Hoshigami

Also: Elite Beat Agents needs to get their sequel over to the states but now.

I'm sure there are more, but I'm tired and can't think.

Aydin Chronicles: The First Mage

bet none of you know of this game.

The combat system, and the fact dead characters actually DIE was awesome.

Legacy of Kain: Defiance absolutely NEEDS a sequel so the saga can end properly. I can't begin to tell you how heartbreaking it was to follow the saga from the first Blood Omen and on only to have it end abruptly and indefinitely.

Psi Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy needs a true sequel because it ended with such a cliffhanger.

Psychonauts comes to mind. Poor, poor Psychonauts... the world was not ready for you.

Secret of Mana, which I've never gotten the chance to play but supposedly has an incredible storyline attached to it.

Total Annihilation: Kingdoms, which was the only and greatest RTS I've ever gotten to try and ended an epic final battle with one big-ass cliffhanger.

EDIT: A Bomberman game with a more serious tone would be pretty awesome.

Look, I only ever tell people to use the search bar if it's extreme, but for fucks sake! This is getting ridiculous. Truly, truly ridiculous.

OT: Spartan: Total Warrior. That was a great game with great ideas. The combat was... awesome, the story wasn't too unbearable and and the combat was awesome.

If you like Black you might wanna look into Bodycount; It's made by the same developers.

If it's upsetting you, why bother reading them then? I'm not sure, but I don't think it's hurting anyone.

After playing some PS2 classics last night (Bully, Psychonauts, TimeSplitters: Future Perfect) I started thinking about games that never got any much deserved sequels.

So Escapists, which game series would you like to see continued?
Em... timesplitters fp... is...a sequal.

And to answer your question.

No game, in no way, never ever ever deserve a sequel. Sequels should be punishable by death.

Sequels almost always destroy series, and allthough we would have to miss out on GOOD sequels, i think it's well worth the making of some actually good new games.

Dude, you need to chill out. This is the second thread I've ever made and I don't like being accused of forum necromancy.

Umm, no. There is nothing wrong with extra sequels as long as they're GOOD. And stop channeling Yahtzee. Make your own opinions FFS.

I wholeheartedly agree with you there, but is it really worth the degree to which they butcher good series?

And i quote whoever the hell i want. Wether it's yahtzee, Winston Churchill or Hitler. Quoting someone does not mean you don't have your own opinion...

And a third game in a series is still a sequel...

Depends. The Tony Hawk franchise is now naught but a pile of shit thanks to the horrible sequels it received, but some games have great potential if they are put in the right hands. And I know that the 3rd game in a series is still a sequel; at no point did I deny that.
