Im just curious , i hear people complain about the voice acting in games , and i really don't notice the quality of voice acting because i usually always read the subtitles, but im curious to know what GOOD Voice acting sounds like and what games have the best Voice acting in your opinions?

Red Dead Redemption had some good voice acting.
This is true, especially Dutch.

Also: the Prince (SoT), Tommy (Mafia), Joe (Mafia 2), everyone in Portal 2, a lot of the Mass Effect 2 voice actors (especially Thane and the Illusive Man) and Geralt in The Witcher 2, which was surprising, because he sounded bored-as-fuck in the first game.

Sonic 06...

/joke

I really like the voice acting in the Jak series, to be honest. Everyone has a reasonable voice for their figure. Plus, it has Sig.

"We're rollin' with the Peacemaker!"

Fucking Sig, man. I love that bastard.

Surprised no has mentioned Portal 2 or Bioshock yet.

Also, can we get some props for FF4 DS? I was always impressed by the voice work in there, 'specially for a handheld game.

I would say Mass Effect 2 if it wasn't for Yvonne Strahosvki as Miranda. I love her in Chuck, but a good voice actress she is not. I also thought Martin Sheen was phoning it in a bit.

The Uncharted series is the first that comes to mind, I guess.

Though my favourite voice acting has got to be Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil 4. It's hammy, but fuck it; I like ham

Mass Effect immediately comes to mind here, but I think that the Assassin's Creed games overall had some good voice acting (except Altair, love him, but his voice acting was terrible). The Prince from POP: SoT as well as Farah were excellent as well.

Good voice acting? There's quite a bit out there.

Final Fantasy X
Beyond Good & Evil
No One Lives Forever 1 & 2
Sacrifice
Portal 1 & 2
Gears of War series
Mass Effect series
Dragon Age series
KOTOR series
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver series
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Half-Life 2
Advent Rising
Bioshock
Splinter Cell series
Star Wars: Republic Commando
Warhammer 40: Dawn of War
Uncharted series

And these are just the games I own; there's a lot more.

At this point, it's getting hard to find BAD voiceacting outside of shovelware.

I'm going with Gears 2 as one of my favorites. It's a shame that nothing interesting is really said.

This (especially the Sig part). The Jak franchise had decent acting (haven't seen anything with Lost Frontier, but whatever). The first game has voices that make me cringe sometimes, but it's more in the way that many goofy E-rated platformers have been doing before. Not BAD exactly, but not my cup of tea. And besides, it also makes more oomph for the second game when the attitude is turned upside down, became more story driven, and demanded more from the voices. Also, the first game had bloody Dee Snider from Twisted Sister as the baddie! Win (no, I'm not biased at all *whistles*).

Ratchet and Clank games have been pretty strong with their voice acting and it pretty much got better as time went on. I hold it as the best acting from a platformer.

The Portal games had good acting too. Uncharted I guess is a no brainer. And I can't help but wonder if the actors from Ico and SOTC recorded their lines and had it manipulated or if they had to read a script of gibberish. That has to count for something if they actually did their reading in that language and having it sound legit and halfway decent.

all of Valve games do

also, Metal Gear Solid series, though I can't speak for the PS1 one, since I haven't played it in english, but I'll say it now, that game had the ONLY Spaniard translation I tolerate, hell, I even loved those voices (as in, european spanish dubbing)

also, Prince of Persia 2008 is pretty nice too

I was gonna say SOTC as a joke, cuz there's really no acting aside from Wander's and that spirit's gibberish, but then I realized, you do have a point. Although, I don't think it was recorded that way. I think they just spoke and had it all jumbled. I mean really, speaking like that would get kind of tough after a while. Then again, people can learn Na'vi in no time flat, so...

Dawn of war has really nailed it just about every time they've tried it, whoever did the ork one for buying angry bits deserves some kind of award for it, pure brilliance.

Mafia 2. For all its lackluster gameplay, the voice acting was one thing that truly stood out.
